Casino Smokers!!

I've been working at a casino for over 5 years but this Independence Day there has been so much smokers!!! I can't believe how I used to smoke like that. So much second hand and it's really gross ugh. It just makes me wonder if all the thousands of people would vape instead of smoke here at the casino how much cleaner and nicer it would be. Not to mention all the cigarette butts laying around and burned chairs there are lol.

Yesterday I was just thinking about what it will be like for me to go into a Casino now that I've quit smoking. I used to burn through an entire pack of ciggs within a few hours when I'm in a casino. I think I might need to get a "vape mask" or something to keep out all the smoke!

lol @ "vape mask". I thought about that too when working on a slot machine with a person next to me blowing smoke right in my face!

I worked at a casino for more than 5 yrs. I kept a cough, got bronchitis and bad cough-type colds every winter. I smoked 2 pad at the time. The Dr. told me there was no use quitting smoking until I quit the casino. He said if I quit, I'd still be smoking about 2 pad in 2nd hand smoke! I don't know how true that is, but gamblers sure love smoking!!! Being out on the floor with guests, I got a LOT of 2nd hand smoke....

I thought that smoking was banned in casinos in 1998 in California? According to Wikipedia, only small workplaces in California can permit smoking (5 or fewer employees).

Anyway, smoking is banned in casinos in Illinois, which is great for my grandmother. She used to smoke, and she hasn't been very tolerable of tobacco since she quit in early 2004. However, it doesn't bother her enough to avoid a casino altogether. She still gambles at casinos in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Indiana all of which permit smoking in casinos.

As of July 1, 81.8% of Americans live under some sort of smoking ban either at the local, commonwealth, or state level up from 79.6% last month.

from what I understand, I work for an Indian tribe which is on sovereign land. they don't follow state regulations but do follow federal. Maybe that's why the casino I work for allows indoor smoking. and yeah even though I've stopped first hand smoking, the second hand smoke can sure be real bad at times. I know employees that have developed bronchitis or just their immune system is just terrible. my immune system was terrible too until I started vaping :p

That's how it is in Florida as well. We have a clean air indoor act in place for work places, but smoking all day and night at the Seminole casinos. Again, they're not "in" Florida per say, so yeah. I guess similar to a military base or the like.

None of the casinos near me are Indian tribes, so they are 100% smoke-free by state law.
