Casino Vaping

Long story short: I was playing craps, and steaming my e-cig.

Originally, I was at a non-smoking table, which I didn't realize was non-smoking until one of the table attendants filled me in, and also indicated that it included e-cigarettes. She knew what it was, and I moved to another table, no big deal.

I vaped happily at the second table for quite some time, even had to top off my cart once during the session. I forgot to pocket my KBV Monkey Bread ejuice before leaving the table, and started aimlessly wandering around enjoying the atmosphere.

I circled back around to my original table to find a casino security officer holding my ejuice out in front of him, with a puzzled look on his face like he had discovered a new alien civilization. So I went over to collect my juice (and to explain it was nic juice - no heroine)

In all honesty, it ...... me off how this guy was acting. He was holding it out a full arms length in front of him, staring at it for several minutes, after I told him what it was and showed him my Riva 510. I was respectful, but he had everyone in proximity staring at me like I was a junkie which was kind of embarrassing. Dealers, players, everyone was interested in what was in the bottle.

He ended up calling an in-house highway patrolman who arrived on the scene with 5 other men dressed in suits. He examined the juice - a little less dramatically, ran my ID, and after about 5 minutes I was free to go.

I'm glad I came back, because that juice is excellent. I think it will be quite some time before the majority recognize e-cigarettes. The highway patrolman knew what e-cigarettes were, but had no idea that you could order the juice separately. He was pretty nice, but the original security officer scoffed at me as I walked by.

I think he was just being a .....

wow that sucks. I live right next to Atlantic city and the law is that smoking is only allowed in 25% of Casino space. but it is not enforced at all, people smoke through the whole Casino (and none of the security officers say a word to any of them), so if I ever got in trouble for vaping there I probably would be .......

That's ridiculous. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Being treated like a criminal over nothing is incredibly embarrassing, I've had my car torn apart by border patrol over nothing before. People stare at you like you've murdered your parents. I hope this happens less as the general public becomes more educated and more analog smokers turn to vapes.

I would have had a free room in that casino after it was all said and done. Complaining about harassment can get you a long way sometimes.

while that does suck, i still find it hard to get upset at people for not knowing much about PVs. it is nowhere near a mainstream device, and if you were never an analog smoker, your chances of being knowledgeable with regards to ecigs is even more unlikely.

while there is no need for someone to embarrass anyone in this situation, i can understand the confusion and interrogation to some extent. hopefully in the next 2-3 years this will all become as well known and commonplace as tobacco products, but right now, to most uneducated people, it does look like we are all using something "questionable".

My general view is that in a Republic, a citizen is able to do anything not specifically prohibited, and government's power is limited only to things specifically permitted.

Hence, there should be NO suspicion that something bad is going on.
