The CDC has just reported that more than 1,000 calls were made to poisoning centers reporting laundry detergent exposures (during just one month this spring), and that 48% of the calls were for laundry detergent pod exposures (e.g. eating them).
Health Hazards Associated with Laundry Detergent Pods — United States, May–June 2012

But unlike CDC's recommendation that FDA regulate e-cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products under Chapter IX of the tobacco control act (which would effectively ban e-cigs once again), the CDC didn't make any recommendations to further regulate laundry detergents or laundry detergent pods.

This is just the most recent example of the outrageous inconsistency and hypocrisy of CDC when it comes to truthfully informing the public about various health risks and advocating sound public health policies.

I think those things are awful! They make them look so pretty..... Kind of like a nice little rubber ball, perfect for kids and pets to play with! Grrrr..... Personally, I can't even use most laundry products as they make my skin itch and break out in rashes. I have to get the fragrance free, sensitive skin type.... Even then, when I use a machine at the laundromat that someone has used this stuff in already, my clothes smell just Like I had used it myself! :-(
