Hi guys! This past week I have been tinkering with my ce2 r4 cartos. I had broken the rubber tipped syringe filler when I was in the Rockies in December so I had not used them since as I had no way to fill it. So I started doing some research. I removed the wick inside and did this mod with the lipton pyramid tea bag. The video shows it on a different type of carto, I think it's the revision 3 version (not sure though) but I did it on my version 4 and it worked like a charm!

With my r4's, they have a grommet inside and then another grommet that had the two holes in it for filling. I removed both grommets, and the top piece, cut the wick out, then I boiled the crap out of them because the coils were black. I used this video to show me how to dry burn the ce2 r4. It took me 3 times of boiling and dry burning to get it to look white and the coil back to silver. I also had to use a sharp little tool that I took out of my manicure set, and scraped the coil to get the carbon stuff off. You have to do this every so delicately if you dare try mess with the coil or you will break your carto. So use this scraping method with caution! It took me a whole afternoon to do this but the coil now burns red.

When I added in the teabag down the sides, what I did to fill it was drip down the side of the carto without having to use a needle, and it soaked right into the pyramid teabag. I realized I will never ever have to use a needle again to fill these! Then I put the rubber grommet back on, without the middle grommet. I used the one that had holes in it for filling, and turned it upside down from the way it was positioned in the carto when I took it out and it does not leak. I got the idea from a video to turn it upside down but can't find the video. Now the test! Does it vape?

OMG! This is a vape machine! The taste is absolutely amazing and I am now using these and have put my smart carts away. I am just thrilled with this teabag mod, thrilled with the fact I can fill this thing now by dripping down the side, and only have the one little plug to use instead of 2! This works guys! If anyone wants to resurect a ce2 r4 that has been collecting dust, try this out. It is amazing!

I know there was some talk about the antibacterial spray used on the wick which would cause a gross taste. Now that the wick is gone and replaced with the pyramid tea bag, the flavor is so intense! And no more worries about yucky burn gross taste!

I do like the clean flavour on the ce2s but the extra work gets tiring. Got to make sure you have a few to clean at once. I find a toothpick is less likely to break the coils. Also don't scrape the coil if it is still hot as it increases the chances that you will break it.

I prefer the ease of use and flavour of a bottomer feeder paired with 2.0Ω 510 or 306 atty from cisco or IKV.

Same here, I gave on the cleaning of these Cartos, and just chuck 'em now when I get the coil gunked up which happens a lot with the higher VG juice I use. I basically get two refills out of them, and then it's a slam dunk in the garbage bin. I've been through the gauntlet of soak, boil, clean and re-use and it got tiring after a while.

They are cheap, and can be replaced quite easily.

Good job on the instructions and video D&P. Definitely good for someone with time on their hands to do this.

Hi, Danesnpits,
I am glad to hear you are have as good an experience with the C-E2's as I do.
The PTB mode works great I agree, I actually do mine with a folded strip between the wick and the carto shell with good success.
I no longer soak them at all, just boil some water and using a blunt tipped syringe slipped down into the carto flush it out really well(with just boiled water so wear gloves).
Then slip the syringe needle in through the connector end up the "air tube" and flush out the coil a few times from that direction. I usually see the wick getting nice and clean by doing this.
Flick the water out really well and let it sit for a while to dry out. As a tip I set it on the back of the stove top when cooking supper and that will usually dry it out enough to do a quick dry burn. Gently brush the coil off with a interdental brush, blow any ash off and add the PTB strips. Fill, put the fill ring in upside down like you said and vape away.
Doesn't take long to do and usually only need to do it every second day and these things last a very long time.

Great job on the instructions, All the best,
Wing.

I just wanted to let the group know that I am ordering some more xl carto's from Jack at Happy Vaper - Canada Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid, DIY Concentrated Flavorings!. I saw on the site they were low, and only have the pink ones left. I just got an email saying they should be all stocked up by the middle of next week. Woot!!

When I get these cartos this time, I am taking the wick right out, right off the bat, and putting in the pyramid tea bag. The one's I mod'd were oldies but goodies. I want to try the mod on a newbie. I am super excited to mod them right out of the box. Will write another review when I do it!

Yup...been doing that on these CE2s R4s. It's the best mod ever. Clean flavor, loads of vapor, easy to maintain. Love it.

I have used the ce2s out of the box. It is only after I mod'd them that I realized how much of a better flavor and vape experience I was getting. The wick on ce2s can be known to have an antibacterial component on them that can cause some ickyness to them. Mod'ing with the ptb helps with that, and honestly, they do wick much better. But I thank you for your comment!
