CE3 Smokymizer

I use a different manufacturers CE3's as those appear to have a plastic center tube, but I prefer bottom coils for many reasons.
The main thing is: 'Do they work for you?'

I use mainly 70/30 PG/VG and I like to trim the wicks slightly for better flow and on my 50/50 joose I raise the center most to allow for even more flow.
I have noticed that you really need to use the proper needle diameter or the fill hole will get enlarged causing leaking issues as these work off a vacuum system and they need to be filled upside down.
I haven't tried the specific type that you mention, but I figure they should be in the same ballpark as for use and cleaning.

I too bought a 5 pack of the TW CE3s with the top plug you have to remove to fill. They are bottom coil. If you follow directions to fill them there will be no leaking. When filling, put a condom on the battery end of the cartomizer, then fill the carto, replace the top plug and remove the condom. I think the later versions are not as complicated and would prefer them, but these do not leak.

These need to be cleaned too often IMO. You can pull the plasitc tank off, clean and dry burn. BUT, you are left with threading a long wick up through a small hole in a plate near the bottom of the carto, and that is not so easy. I much prefer the "Phoenix" type of CE3s.

I thought they quit making the smoky's, but still used the name on the package....I guess not.
Yeah, the BetterLifeTech CE3's are my clearo of choice. I wish they would hurry up and change the name to CV3 to help prevent confusion.

Edit: Do the smokys have a plastic center tube? Has anyone tried the Boge Clearo's?

Yes, they have a plastic center tube that is between two plastic plates, one plate near the top with the bung/plug you have to remove to fill, and one near the bottom above the atomizer. The TW ones are made by Microcig.

Edited to note: I wrote the first paragraph thinking you wrote "why does everyone recommend" rather than "what does everyone recommend."

The CE3s are great pieces of hardware. If you fill them upside down you let the air go through the wicks and don't force the liquid to break the seals. They're indestructible both by shock damage and corrosive liquids and make some good vapor. That indestructibly and never leaking lets me carry a few in my pocket with my keys. They're cheap and disposable, unlike a tank. Not to mention that bottom coil is superior tech.

But they don't do VG well, but what does?

Their greatest flaw is that they're out of stock more than half the time.

Suggested "real" CE3s:
CE3 XL Clearomizer [CE3XL LR] - $8.50 : Vapors Choice, Ecigarettes & Parts (best price) (I've ordered from here)
CE3 5pack
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | CE3 Cartomizer - Elite Bottom Coil CE3 Cartomizer
CE3 XL Clearomizers
CE3 - 5 Pack (I've ordered them from here)
GotVapes PHOENiX™ Bottom Coil XL 1.5ml Cartomizer 2.4-2.6ohms [gv-PHOENIX-XL-2.4-510] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more (the Phoenix that started it all)

And it seems they're in stock everywhere atm, and some of the ones that had ridiculous prices have dropped them to be more competitive.

Both are bottom coils with the main difference being everything else.
CE3's are 510 thread and CE4's are ego style. The 3's are tube style; 4's are cone shape. 3's are easier to disassemble; clean and adjust. 4's are all plastic parts and a lot harder to disassemble and clean.
Buy one of each and I'm sure you'll notice even more....

CE4+'s are top coil like the stardust types. Smokymizers CE3's (microcig) were the older CE3's and they had many issues.
BetterLife makes the newer style CE3's. I wish BetterLife would hurry and change the name to CV3 like they mentioned they were going to do, but they may have decided not to since I don't see it mentioned on their site anymore....who knows
