You didn't say what kind of 510 battery you are using. But, I have heard of this problem with the startdust when using the larger flat top mods where the base of the stardust sits too close to the top of the mod to draw air. In these cases, people have had to us a 510 extender to raise the stardust off of the top of the mod.

Sounds like you will want an ego to 510 adaptor. Some of the 510 batteries need to be screwed in too far to make contact with the center post. I have a few 510s here that need the ego adaptor to work with the stardust. I also have an eGo clone that blocks the airflow witht the threads too. However they all work just fine with an extension adaptor.
