So with all the information that's out there about all of the different ways to clean an atomizer, and being new to using atomizers I'm a little leary to throw them in some hot water and dry burn these things. Don't want to use harsh chemicals either. So if anyone out there has a good way to do this or when to do this I would appreciate the help. So far I am just blowing them out at night and cleaning the threads and sitting them upside down on a towell for the night. Got a week out of one so far. But if preventive maintenance is something that could prolong my atty I'm all about it. Just scared to ruin a fine atomizer. Also, I realize there is no way to pin point exactly what kind of lifespan these 510's should have, but any ballpark figures? I get weeks almost a month out of most cartos. TIA.

Depends, you could get a dud and pop it right away. You could buy random brands and get some shabbily made ones. If you buy good brands and take care of them they could last for months. By take care, that includes being aware of the temp of your atty. If it is getting abnormally hot then its is not getting enough juice or it is not vaporizing well and you are pushing it too hard. When it's too hot, check what is wrong. Top of the cart if it needs it, rearrange the stuffing, do a full refill, replace the cart stuffing if needed (try the precut blue foam stuffing for 510 carts at strictlyejuice.com). If the cart seems OK see if the atty is all gunky with dried on juice. If yes, then swap to a clean atty (after priming the clean atty's bridge and letting the juice soak in for a min). Hot water works as well as anything for cleaning an atty.

And note - it's possible LR attys may be more prone to dying since they run hotter.

It's really hard to tell how long an atty is going to last. Some are DOA and some seem to have eternal life. I had six atties when I first started vaping last September and still have five left. My LR atties seem to last anywhere from a few days to around a month before they go bad.

I usually blow them out at least once a day and give them a 15 minute soak in Isopropyl Alcohol once a week or so. That's the only maintenance I do.

To date I have yet to clean an atomizer as many others do other than blowing them out and most have lasted anywhere from a month to three months. I guess I just didn't have enough time and they seemed to keep going so I never ventured to boil, clean with alcohol etc... Though I can't say I have had that same exact success rate with low resistance atomizers but still reasonable in my opinion. I can say I do clean and dry burn ce2's.

Edit: I have rotated atomizers through my time periods mentioned not strictly using one atty.
