Quit useing the Baby Batterys and get a big mod. :D I droped from 24 to 12 the day i went from ego to provari at 5ish volts. 24 Was killing me with nic headaches and harshness.

There have been many posts from vapers who moved up to a good 5 volt or variable volt model and were able to lower their nic level a notch. Warmer vapor helps make better throat hit thus not depending on the nic level to do all the work.

What does higher voltage do? I still don't get it. Won't it kill the atomizer If it causes them to burn hotter?

Not at all. First, with a good 5 volt or variable volt model, there is no need to use low resistence (LR) attys/cartos because they produce warmer (not hot) vapor on standard resistence attys/cartos but also do great with dual coil cartos which many of us use. They provide a more consistent vape, also, because your LR attys degrade quickly. If you get a model that is regulated and espcially one which has "boost circuit" technology, then there is no drop off in the consistency of your vape due to battery drain. I've had 2.5 - 3.0 resistence atomizers last 4 - 5 months on both my 5 volt and variable volt models. Here are three suggestions in the good, better, best categories:

Good:

5 volt box mod from: Kens Boxmods

Better:

5 volt GLV2 (lifetime warranty) from: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Best:

Power regulated, variable wattage Darwin: Nhaler

Higher voltage, for the same sized resistor gives you more current (amps).
Heat is current (squared) times resistance.
More amps then means more heat.

As to burning up cartos, yeah that's a trade off.
Most go with higher ohm cartos thus also making more heat.

OMG! $245! Why the heck are they all so expensive! I can't even afford the provari thingy at 169! Even though that thing looks awfully too big, but they are so pricey!

You are getting the "state of the art" in vaping models with the Darwin. And the Provari when you factor in the batteries and the extended warranty to match what comes with the Darwin is just as expensive. Both are very good models. I prefer the Darwin for a couple of reasons. The battery provides 21 - 35 hours of heavy vaping on a charge so there is no longer any need to carry extra batteries. It doubles as a pass-through so you can vape and charge at the same time. It has boost circuit technology for the best in consistency of any model on the market. And you can use dual coil cartos with it.

The other two options are significantly less expensive but also provide warmer vapor.

I use dual coil cartos on the Darwin and get a week to a week and a half which is pretty typical. I was getting two weeks using 801 cartos. I don't see them using up cartos any more quickly based on what others have reported.
