Too much nicotine or not enough?

If you used 24mg juice and vaped 3ml per day, you'd be getting about 30-40mg per day... equivalent to about 10-13 newport cigarettes.

Well I think it's settled then. 24mg by 3ml a day sounds like what I'll need to try. I think I was just being way to conservative. Thanks again for helping me solve this problem.

I was a 1.5 PAD lights smoker (with .9mg of nicotine per cig, 18mg of nicotine per pack) and that's where I started - 18mg and about 1.5ml per day. Many full strength cig smokers do better on 24mg. Some need higher to start.

However - I found I absolutely could not vape foody-fruity juices or low TH juices alone for the first 2 months. They left me feeling like I had eaten and craving an analog. Any tobacco juices with TH could almost satisfy my craving but something was missing. I was not totally fully satisfied until I found tobacco juices with aromas that reminded me of my favorite cigs. (And BTW - you have to remember to get your nose have some of the fresh vapor - let some waft out of your mouth so your nose gets some on the inhale). My first tobacco that had a relaxing aroma for me was Backwoods Brew Casablanca. My second I found was a stronger Turkish blend FreedomSmokeUSA DesertShip but it was plainer than the Casablanca so I would add a bit of vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, or oRYental 4 (sweet caramel tobacco) to my cart for variety and adding that cocoa note (most cigs have cocoa in them). After 2 months I was able to vape those add-in flavors alone as well as other flavors. Some people can vape foody/fruity flavors right from the start but some are like me and get a craving for an analog when they do.

Mischief, if you get some time on your hands it would be worthwhile taking a look at Dvaps blogs and maybe the " so are we getting it thread" in the nicotine section of the forum. That thread is super long but somewhere is a summary of it by Madame Psychosis. I'll see if I can find it and post a link for you.

Here's an update. I found that my problem wasn't really in the strength of the liquid I was using. It turned out to be the equipment. I was using a TigCig 402 and then switched to an ego, both times using drip method. I ordered an ego-t which I started using shortly after posting this thread and it has made a huge difference. Using carts I didn't seem to get much out of it but found it to be a better alternative to smoking. After a couple weeks I tried out dripping and liked it much better. I had better flavor and vapor. Now that I've been using the tank system I don't know how I survived before. I get consistent drags now with tons of flavor in each, and plenty of vapor. I noticed that I am now using a lot more liquid but I feel that I'm not wasting it now. I'd have to say that I go through about 3ml now of the 18mg stuff, but I just received my order of BWB 24mg stuff. I'll let that sit for a week or so and then try it out. Just thought I'd point out that equipment plays as big a role as the liquid does.

I couldn't have made it without my tank system, same goes for the wife! She was ready to go back to smoking because of all the headaches involved until I gave her an ego tank. Everyone is different as well. I smoked between 3-5 packs a day, and my wife smoked less then a pack a day. I VAPE 24mg, she couldn't do it without 36mg, of course I also go through between 6-10 tank carts a day, and she goes through 3 a day, I also still have a Joye 510Mega that I keep filled with 36mg nic for those times I'm craving, being a complete and total ......., or its Tuesday, I found that throughout the day it really helps me to VAPE the 36 every couple of hours or so, I think I go through maybe 2 Mega carts a day, and one ego tank cart a day of the 36, but I haven't smoked in 34 days, and for me that's a miracle! I had about given up on quitting, just didn't think I would ever be able to do it. I'm so glad I was wrong. Welcome to the forum, and to vaping, and I'm so glad that it has gotten easier for you, I've also found that the forum has been as instrumental to quitting as the PV'S have been. You have to give it away to keep it, and by your pic I see you like free to, so give your knowledge away to anyone, and everyone who will listen. It's life and death to some people. I found out about it through my wife, from our tigons teacher, she is a vapor, and turned us onto it. She saved our lives! Good luck! And welcome again.

PS: fwiw, the average person vapes 24mg, 3ml per day.

Holy crap, I think that would make my head spin off into the atmosphere.

I vape 18 mg at roughly 1.5 - 2 ml a day. That much at 24 would probably leave me feeling stoned and buzzed. Then again, I was a 15-20 cigs a day smoker, I'm sure others probably smoke(d) a lot more than I did.

I also started the beginning of January and the only time I have smoked was when my first atty went out, and I didn't have a spare. I have found that I vape way more than I smoked, but I stick with very low or no nicotine until I get a craving. I keep 2 e-cigs going at all times and may start with 3 ... one with a high nicotine high TH also for the extreme craving. I think that has been more the key for me to quit smoking. If I smoked low nicotine all day it wouldn't be enough and anything higher would make me feel sick, so I have to switch back and forth.

Mischief, I'm glad you are finding something that works for you. It seems that no two people can get exactly the same thing to work for them. Vaping alone works well for most people here once they get the right pv/liquid combination down. I had gotten to the point where I was going thru 4-5ml a day of 24-36mg liquids and still could never get that satisfied feeling. There are a few of us out there that crave the missing tobacco alkaloids that are not in the liquids and are in tobacco. I substitute my vaping with Swedish snus. I now vape less than 1ml a day. The snus gives me the things I was craving that wasn't in our liquids. I still enjoy vaping but do a lot less of it now.

I 2nd the higher strength liquid. I've dealt with many customers who wanted to go low nic since they were trying to quit smoking and almost every single time they came back for higher nic. I recommend going higher in the beginning while you're detoxing off the other chemicals in cigarettes. I've found that once that detox is complete you'll find the nic seems a bit more intense and that's a good signal to step down if that is your desire. I've stepped down, not because I wanted to wean off nicotine, but because the nicotine was just becoming to harsh. I started at 30mg and now 18mg is even getting a bit harsh so I'll probably drop to 11 or 12mg on my next order.

The other thing to keep in mind is that nicotine hits the brain within 5 seconds on a tobacco cigarette. Nicotine through vaping can take up to a minute to reach the brain so don't expect the instant gratification you got from cigarettes. Take a good long draw and give it a minute to hit. Constantly dragging to try to get the buzz can lead to OD symptoms quickly.

    Just my 2cents.

Is that right? I'd assume it would take the same amount of time since it's still being absorbed through the lungs

I also believe your nic isn't high enough. Try french inhaling some of the vape through your nose and see if that satiates your needs as the blood vessels in your nasal area will absorb the nicotine. If this works then you can either continue vaping this way or up your Nic level. Worth a try IMHO.
    Good Luck, Vapoor.
