There's still time :)

On the metal taste front, I've only had two colds since I started vaping (coming on two years) and both times I got funky off tastes. Juices had elements I never tasted before (nor did I want) and there were a few funky aspects (metal, plastic, burnt) that were pronounced. Doctor friend suggested it was congestion causing blocked taste buds and nasal receptors, resulting in some pronounced sensations.

AAHHHHHHH... makes sense for sure. i'm very sensitive to metal and I only have 2 DTs I can use that are metal-Chalice III and byLeo. This stupid cold def made the metal VERY pronounced.

Since i swapped out the Chalice metal DT, that taste is totally gone. Same juice in the REO so it's not the juice throwing me off.

I can not tolerate metal DT's as well and it sad cuz all the cool looking ones are stainless :(

I'm a lung hitter that takes very long hits. I always have slipstreamed the Chalince II to get a good enough pull to use it at all... have had to since I have not opened up its air intake (yet, but will when I can dig the drill press out of storage). Started with the III's using them the same way. But with a short learning curve found that I have no problem getting plenty of flavor rich vapor out of the III's with lung hits without slip streaming the DT. The 4 Mini 2.1's running the 4 Chalice atty's have been my go to's most of the time since (but I do stealth vape the newest LP Grands some too when the mini's are not looking). The downside, I vape 30ml+ a day and the mini's bottles are constantly needing refilling. Before someone suggests doing bottle mods, yes I do - 2 dozen of them... no I haven't.

I think I've settle into preferring a kind of "restricted lung hit".
Think "cyclone with the AFC wide open" - in fact, I run it both airholes open even with a single coil - if you haven't tried that, I recommend it...
And I DON'T like a big-air, dual-coil, low-sub-ohm vape... I've done it, just don't like it.

Anyway - I've been giving my CIII another run, and I like it (wide open), but I do wish it had just a LITTLE more air.
I hear the new batch has a slight increase in air, PLUS a shorter drip-tip. I'm jealous.
Anyone out there likes a tighter draw and wants to swap a 2nd batch for a 1st batch, let me know!

I seem to be in the minority on the Throat/Lung hit. I love the Chalice III because it allows me to restrict the airflow for a nice mouth to Lung hit. Taste is better. It is the first Rebuildable, for me, that really shines due to the AFC. Some days I go wide open, most days I restrict to almost closed for a nice tasty mouth hit.

For comparison, the RM2 was almost too open for me to even think of a mouth hit...so, yeah I'm in vapin heaven now.

So....I'm just window shopping, but it looks like these Chalices have a finish similar to the standard brushed finish on a Provari (?) I'm trying to figure out what color Reo would look good with that. I have a black wrinkle/hammer tone now, which I love. How would black wrinkle/silver vein look with the finish on the Chalice. I'm not much into the bright colors. My other thought was a tumble raw aluminum, but I'm not completely sure if I like that finish. Any opinions? Stupid question?

IMHO, it simply looks good on all my REOS...I have 2 woodvilles and many Grands...though I've passed along 3
of them to others and they have successfully kicked the carcinogen habit after getting the REO.

I especially like it on my Silver Grand, though but ymmv, as they say.

Good luck window shopping - it's a whole lotta fun and I do it often myself.

Got my CIII.. Have to say the built quality is amazing! Given the small size the machining is probably second to none ;)
Due to the extremely small chamber I had a short, my fault really as I was used to clipping instead of twisting off the wires..;(
But overall a real joy to use and even just holding it in your hands ;)
Just wondering here.. There're 3 AFC holes but just 1 at the the coil.. So do they actually connect/function? If they do it is really amazing, again given the small size of the walls..

Congrats on receiving a Chalice III - Vape on!

To avoid shorts and as other members on the thread pointed out already, try a clockwise wrap and most definitely ohm test after putting the cap on.

As for the AFC holes - I believe they all meet in the secret hidden vape chamber then merge to the coil chamber hole...amazing piece, imho.

I'm extremely please and had no problem immediately twisting my first coil, wicking and vaping away but then again - been making my own attys for some time now.

I have the ProVari Satin Silver (if this is the color you're referring to for comparison) and the Chalice is more of a brushed silver/duller than the ProVari. The ProVari Satin Silver is a bit more shiny/brighter if that makes sense.

here's the TRA Grand/Chalice and Black Wrinkle with Silver wrinkle door/chalice. TRA is shiner/brighter than the Chalice silver.

I've had a stupid cold for awhile but, rebuilt/wicked both my Chalice II & III bcoz I was getting weird tastes. (But again, I've been sick). Not sure why but my Chalice III is throwing off a metal/metallic taste I'm not getting on the II???

I filled both with familiar juice (meaning nothing new) and granted I really can't taste the juice, but I taste metallic on one. Anyone else experience that at all on the III? May need to swap out the DT and see if that makes a difference. I usually never use metal DTs bcoz of this reason but the III DT didn't do that to me at first.
When I have a metallic taste it's always from a hot leg.
