I'm curious when people change their cartridges? I constantly top-off my 510, but I'm wondering when I should be switching carts or getting some new ones?

I've been rotating them and haven't cleaned the fill yet. Does anyone recomend using isopropyl alcohol to soak the carts in while the filling is drying to get a decent disinfection?

Thanks in advance!

If you're referring to the original carts with filler, this is what I have done with them once they have been used a few times:

I carefully remove the filler material and gently run it under a light stream of hot tap water while squeezing it between a thumb and forefinger until it appears clean again (perhaps 30 seconds or so). I then place the filler on a piece of toilet tissue (it's very absorbent) and fold the tissue over it several times to blot it dry, but don't flatten it out to much. Once I think it's clean and dry enough I carefully place it back inside my cart just as it was and slowly put about 8-10 drops of e-juice in it allowing each drop to soak in completely. Two fresh drops directly on the bridge inside the atty and you should be all set.

You could also try some of the many cartridge mods like the Pyramid Tea Bag or the Zero-Filler or the Blue Foam and there are several others that have been shown to work very well (better than original).

That's what I've been meaning to do, I just haven't gotten around to it :D.

I'm more concerned about the outer plastic mouthpiece and bacteria. I had thought about using rubbing alchohol or maybe listerine mouth wash?

Or, is it better to replace them with new "empty" mouthpieces?

If it still tastes fine and works well, just keep doing what you are doing.

I am pretty new to the 510 (about a week) and have already thrown out the original cart filling in favor of Lipton Pyramid Tea Bags and the "zero filler mod".

I'm curious about the PTB mod. I also have not gotten around to that, although I'm considering ordering some carts that already have it in them.

You can easily take the plastic mouthpiece (cart) apart. I just use a strong needle inserted into the small hole at the mouth end and pry the cap off slowly. I've noticed that the round carts have just the single cap and nothing else inside and the "whistle" tip carts have an addition baffle inside so be careful to see which way the baffle is facing when you take it apart. Now you can use whatever you want to thoroughly clean the plastic parts.

Awesome, thank you! Just to be clear, I have the round tips, so I should push out a "cap" that's inside once I've removed the fill?

I just got some of the pre-made PTB carts from cignot and those ladies sure know a trick that I don't. Their carts are like origami compared to mine and work better too.

That's where I've been thinking about ordering them from (not to mention some more ecopure rich).

Nice location by the way. Getting snowy.

No, the part where the filler is located is a dead end sealed container (so to speak). Put a sturdy pin in the tiny hole that you draw your vape through (the end you put in your mouth) and gently pry off that cap (with the tiny hole in it). Try it and you'll see what I mean.
