i rince my pt2 really well with super hot water, be careful with the washers in the top and bottom pieces (lost one of mine first time i cleaned it Lol) unscrew the atomizer pull the grommet off of it and wash it, run water down the center tube of the atomizer for a bit, blow it out, run water through it again. then dry everything off really well and blow out the head.. if you like you can pull that center post and see if the coil is really gunked up. If it is you can dry burn it if you like.. Just use really short bursts and take your time. AFTER each fire blow the coil off and let it cool before firing again.

It will take a while if the wick is still wet. Use a Qtip and some paper towel to dry it the best you can by pressing down on the ends.. Brush the coil off with something VERY gently or you can run it under water again after dry burning.. but then you have to dry the wick again or you get a water hit and that's not really that tasty.

DON'T USE SOAP!

letting it sit in alcohol is ok, but it will give your wick an alcohol aftertaste for a bit.

Pyrex and stainless steel are made to not hold onto smells or flavors. The Protank 2 is made out of Stainless steel and Pyrex. The parts you have to worry about flavor sticking to are the coil/wick and the washers and gromet. Clean them and you have no problem. It takes me about 10 minutes from the last vape on one flavor to the first on another, if I take my time with it.

i would. they are called flavor wicks for a reason. just be careful easily lost. put it on a paper towel and run water slowly over it. wipe it off with another corner of the paper towel and repeat until it looks white/clear. just be cautious, so small and easily washed away/lost, and can be important depending on the pg/vg ratio of the juice you're wanting to use.

Way too much work for my ADD personality. I wash them well then replace the wick with organic cotton. Only takes a few minutes and I'm up and running again. Every few days I'll give them an ever clear soak but not each time I switch flavors.
Still too much work.

I just pour the new flavor in when I'm about empty. It gets wicked up eventually. :D

I'm not posting just to disagree with you or to start an argument, but Protanks are not made out of stainless steel. While parts of them like the PT2 drip tips and maybe the bases are advertised as such, the rest of them are not SS. I can't post a link but this has been discussed on this forum. I just think it's important for people to know, I know I was a little disappointed to learn they were not SS. I think that is why they make such a big deal about the new Aerotanks being stainless steel.

Atomizer Cleaning

Soak in alcohol (Not Rubbing Alcohol) overnight
Rinse throughly with warm tap water forcing water into the wick area
Towel dry and blow out any water
Remove the gasket and stem
Remove the flavor wick(s)
Dry burn 6 watts, 5 seconds on/off. Repeat until coils are all turning red and wick is clean.
Blow the burned off crud away

Hold the flavor wick with tweezer while burning them with a lighter or torch until wick is clean.
Place the flavor wick back on top of the coil
Or
Place the flavor wick back on top of the coil
Dry burn as above to cleanup the flavor wick (4-5 cycles should do it)
Or
Replace the flavor wick with the material of your choice

Reinstall the stem and gasket.
