Changing flavors without changing the coil

On my old device, I have multiple coils partially used from changing the coil when I changed the flavor because I read somewhere that was what you were supposed to do. I tried to keep track of them, but failed most of the time. That said, since most of my flavors were dessert or dessert/tobacco, I don't think it really mattered. I've recently discovered fruits, but still like my desserts.

I'm fickle. I like different flavors. I only have two devices, which are vastly different from one another. ATM, I would prefer to use my subox and have only been using the EMOW when the Subox was charging (I KNOW, a second battery and an external charger are on my list, I promise!). Short version; I don't have a dozen tank/atty setups lying around.

So my question is, sure there's a better way to change out a flavor without changing out the coil too? Rinsing? Vodka? Dry burning?

I wouldn't recommend dry burning, you could scorch the cotton wick. Vodka and a complete air dry "might" work. I usually change the juice in my Subtanks and the first 5 puffs are blended (unless it's a drastic change like cinnamon/menthol etc). After the first 5 they seem ok to me.

Rinsing or soaking the coil in either distilled water or vodka works. Let them soak, rinse, and then allow to air dry for a day or two.

However, if you switch between similar flavors then you really don't have to do anything. The flavors will blend for the first few puffs, but it won't take long for the old flavor to be used up and only the new flavor can be tasted. If you don't mind the slight blending of flavors then you don't need to do anything. And sometimes the blending can lead you to try new flavor combos. Blending flavors is often a good thing if the flavors compliment each other.

I never had any problems changing juices on the same coil. When I only had one setup, I would never have two consecutive tanks the same flavor. There would be a transition time of 10 to 15 puffs while the old flavor would fade into the new flavor, but I never noticed any reduction in coil life when compared to when I picked up more units.

If your flavors are fairly similar, just load up - I just did that with my subtank. Had been hitting some Rocket Pop, ran out, and loaded with blueberry custard (of which there wasn't enough to fill the tank :( ) Dropped some Dragon's Blood on top. All very complementary flavors, so when the Rocket Pop worked its way out of the wick, I'm getting yummy fruit custard.

Now, if you're going to switch to a completely different flavor profile, I'd probably change the coil or at least the wick - depending on whether you're rebuilding or not. I am fortunate that I've amassed a buzz-load of tanks and coils (and kanthal and cotton ;) ) Or, if you're a brave soul, vape through the "interestingness" :D

I wondered about this as well when I began vaping (about 6 wks ago).
I have 2 set-ups, both eGo ONEs. I too began with tobacco/dessert tobacco flavours and have recently discovered fruit flavours. Now I use one ego for fruit flavours and the other for sweeter flavours.

So far this works for me. As others have mentioned, likely best to stick with similar flavour profiles in each unit.

Cheers

I've just done exactly what your asking about, went from a heavy tobacco flavour to a light pink lemonade and didn't want to change the subtank coil. I didn't do anything to the coil, other than wipe of the old juice with some paper towel. I'm lazy so just rinsed the tank out with water and then put a tiny bit of pink lemonade in the tank (enough to cover the juice holes in the coil but not a full tank so I wouldn't contaminate and waste the juice if the old flavour didn't go) and vaped it. Yeah it tasted strange for about 20-30 puffs but eventually the old flavour had gone and the new one is fine.
