I need to know how to change juice flavors. I just got this mod last night, first mod ever. I tried to google it but everyone wants to talk in the ecig lingo language which I haven't got down yet and apparently its different for every type of tank. I don't know if I have clearomizers or cartomizers or what the heck I have. So now I'm just totally confused. I can tell you that I have an aspire nautilus tank, and that's about all I know. All I need to know is if there's anything special I have to do when changing juice flavors and what parts do I do them to. Thanks in advance!

If the tank is glass or pyrex, it's a clearomizer. If not, it's a cartomizer. I believe yours is a bottom coil type. Usually with those you can just switch flavors once the existing flavor is super low. You CAN pour out what remains in the tank, but you don't have to. Just pour the new flavor in, take a few pulls, and you should be good to go. I'm sure there's some fancy-schmancy way other people do it, but this works for me.

That's how I do it, too. Some people take the trouble to pour out the old juice, rinse the tank in hot water, dry and refill. I did that once, and couldn't tell much difference from the easy way.

I'm not sure I'm doing this right but have switched flavors with my 2 nautilus tanks several times. I've only been at this 3 weeks for full disclosure.

I try to plan on vaping it way down, like below .5 ml or a dump the leftovers back in the bottle. I rinse everything in hot water, taking it apart into 3 pieces (base, atomizer head, and tank). Sometimes I've soaked other times not. My soak has been some white vinegar and water. Other recommendations are Grain alcohol or 100 proof vodka. I've been letting soak a couple hours then rinse in hot water again. Make sure you get it all dry before re-assembling (shake and let sit for 12 plus hours, shake and blow, hair drier, fan, etc). assemble, fill, and vape on. Well after filling let it sit a bit to wick, or primer puffs, and I've tried a drop of ejuice on the coil before assembly too.

I've been having wicking / dry hit problems with my nautilus heads though. Sounds common. At 3ish bux each this is ridiculous. prolly something I'm doing wrong above. Sometimes I'll get a dry / burnt tasting hit and I have to cover the air hole and suck to get it to wick good again. Im not vaping that hi, 7-8 watts.

Look forward to hearing other recommendations.

There is a known issue with nautilus coils. I have one and have put it aside for awhile until the new coils come out. It's a waste of money to use the couls in circulation right now

Yeah, I've been reading up. The two theories I've read are either the wicking holes need to be a little higher up towards the drip tip, or they cut the silica too short. Regardless it's annoying and not steady. I can always get rid of the dry / burnt taste with the "force wicking" cover the hole and suck, but grrrrr.... I thought I was trying to start with a problem free, it just works, tank. I have two of those in constant performance flux and one aerotank thats been a solid performer. Guess I paid extra for a little more headache. I've been liking having 3 flavors on tap, I do bounce around.

I'm mechanical and knowledgeable enough to get into the rebuildables but will need a couple reliable functional clearomizers while I'm learning. Haven't pulled the trigger on the RBA yet but will soon.

I'm wondering if I walk into the B&M I bought the 5 pack from with these unreliable coils if they'll replace them???? Would be nice to at least get one free batch. Got a box of 5 mostly not used. The coils are just too expensive to play 1 in 5 is usable games.

I think the kanger protank coils are just as frustrating. I get so fed up sometimes with the occasional burnt taste. I'm not even a "fancy" vaper. I have a twist and a vamo and NEVER go above 3.6v...if I do, it automatically tastes burnt. I'm sure some of this has to do with my lack of vaping knowledge, but to me, something so simple should be headache free.

I wouldn't recommend dumping a tiny bit leftover back into your juice bottle. I'd either vape it all or just add more to it on top but don't put the leftover back in the fresh bottle.

Thanks, yeah I've been getting away from that lately. Early on when I was itching to try something new I just picked up and there's 3ml's still in there I just didn't want to be wasteful. I've just been vaping it down lately... well when not mucking with these crappy coils. Thanks for the tip.

I've also done the cover the hole thing. My darn mouth got sore after awhile. Supposedly you can swap them at the B&M that you buy them from. I tried. They wouldn't do it. I will never buy from them again. I emailed the company that makes them and they said they would replace them and I would only have to pay for shipping. Said I would like to do that but haven't heard anything back. Exactly how i feel. ..playing the throw good money after bad thing. So I will wait awhile and see if a good batch comes out after awhile

Below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping. Posts #3 & #4 specifically speak to atomizers/tanks.

2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.

The Nautilus is a clearomizer. When I change flavor in a tank I vape it down as far as I can. If the flavors are similar sometimes I just add the new juice. If it's something doesn't go together I'll dump what ever is left out use a cotton swab to absorb anything left in the tank. Then I either vape a half a ml of unflavored to get as much of the old flavor out of the wick and coil. Then put in the new stuff. Depending on how long I've had the coil in and the difference in flavor sometimes I will pull the old coil out and put in a clean one. I clean my coils in 100 proof Vodka. Allow the coil to soak over night and then swish it around, remove coil(s) dump the vodka and allow the coils to dry no less than 2 days.

A tank or dripper for every flavor and a flavor for every rba. That's my motto. then of course, a mod for every rba.

The Nautilus is a changeable coil head tank system. Also refered to a s a BDC atomizer. Bottom Dualcoil Changeable atomizer.

It's best to change out the wick when switching flavors, unless the 2 compliment each other, then will just vape the juice through.

Since I use only rebuildable atomizers, rba's, it's easy to yank the wick, dry burn the coil and re-wick. backups are always a good idea.

If it's a similar flavor, I just fill when the tank gets low. If it's been a week, or a completely different flavor, I rinse everything in hot water and let dry. Be advised, some juices (minty/menthol/heavy chocolate in my experience) do NOT come out all the way and so I either have to continue to use the same or a similar flavor or put in a new coil.

I'm getting ready to move to a rebuildable atomizer because I think coil cost is something I don't want to continue to dump money into. For less than $10, I can get 100 ft of kanthal wire and a huge bag of organic cotton balls. coils and wicks for years!

Get more tanks. Really, I'm not kidding. If you like to change flavors a lot, it gets to be a pain pouring out juice all the time.

This is the route I have taken. I now have 4 tanks but only have found 3 flavors that I like.

Prior to that, whenever I wanted to switch flavors in a Nautilus tank, I would disassemble it entirely, place the used coil in vodka, rinse all the parts in the hottest water I could handle, dry everything and then reassemble with a new coil.

Having multiple tanks on top of multiple PV's has been great! Want a new flavor? Pick up a different PV.
