I don't know what has happened but all of a sudden I cannot charge my Twists anymore!! The charger light stays red and never goes to green now. The first couple of times, I would just screw the batteries off after several hours and they would seem to work okay but I noticed that the time between needing recharging was shortening up considerably. Tonight I took one off the charger after the usual time needed and it hadn't taken a charge at all. I have cleaned both the battery connections on the Twists and the end of the charger as well. Anyone have any ideas what has gone south here?

Fortunately I have an Altoid mod and an IKV atty for it so will be just dripping from now until I fix this problem. Only thing is ... I don't know if it is the charger or the batteries so don't know what, exactly, to replace here. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks!

Look at the center pin in your Batteries 510 connector, it may have been pushed down some from screwing on your Carto or Atty's to tight, take a needle and see if you can pry upward on the center pin from an angle, this may work and fix your issue.

Also look at the center pin on the charger and see if you can bump that out a bit if its not the Batteries.

Just tighten stuff enough so it makes contact;also,try to identify which of your atties have a center post that protrudes more than 1mm (even 1mm is like a lot),those are the usual suspect in pushing your batteries center pins in (dangerous,might create a short);

I have noticed that the rebuildables with adjustable center pins are murderous for that...wont name any brands,I am forbidden :laugh:

Its also preferable to work on your charger pin instead of your battery pin and in any case,if you could leave both alone and use an adapter instead (510-510) to charge it,it would be advisable.

Thanks to all for your replies. Found out that the problem was the charger. I remembered this morning that I had another charger at my office so whipped in to pick it up. Figured that, while it was possible that two batteries MIGHT go south at the same time, it was highly unlikely that two chargers would. Bottom line - this charger is working and I now have two Twists back up and running. Will maybe play a bit with the other charger to see if I can figure out what the problem is. For now, I am just relieved!!

I had the opposite prob as the OP - Twist battery dead, charger said green. I tried martinc's suggestion of using a 510-510 and the battery charged. Now I'm having a hard time getting my clearo's to connect properly - and using the 510-510 isn't working anyomre. I suspect that the battery pin is pushed down but not sure how to resolve it. This is affecting two of my twists now. :( Suggestions?

Get a tiny flat screwdriver & pry the center post "up" ever so slightly from different positions. In may only need to pop up 1mm to make the necessary contact to your charger & clearo's. This is a common issue that almost everyone will endure with batteries. Most common cause - over-tightening.

If the ego charger light stays red when the battery isn't connected, there's most likely a short in the charger (Red means charging). When you disconnect a battery from the charging cable, and plug it in to the wall wort (Or USB port), the light should be green. Generally if it's red with no battery connected the charger is toast, and you should pitch it.

If the light stays green when you connect a dead battery, this generally means the battery isn't making contact, and you should check the centre pin, clean your contacts and try again.

Mw is correct and almost always is the problem. Also when you get the center pin moved up some dont screw the batt in tight at all. just enough that it starts to charge so you dont push the center pin back down..

Just use a sewing needle and pry up the center pin, going all around so you have it up and even looking.
