Charger?

Really dump question but have to ask what would happen if I used a regular NiMH charger to charge a Li-ion rechargable battery?

Not sure, But I would guess that it may discharge your battery to the point where it may never take a charge again. Possibly could hurt the charger as well. Nimh batteries are 1.2 to 1.5 volts, and Li-ion run from 3.0 to 3.7 volts.
I will let someone who knows for sure answer you better, but first I have a question.

Point well taken. I apologize to the OP if I offended you in any way. I figured he realized what he was asking when he started out by stating it was a "dumb question" in his own post.
I dont want to make people feel like they shouldnt post if they think a question might be dumb, cause those are the ones that need to be answered..

No worries man I know the answer would be something like that I just don't want to wait 12 day for DX to get a charger and that's if I am lucky. Us also know that old saying if one person asks many were thinking or maybe not lol.

If you have an e-cig charger you can spare , you could wire it up to charge your 3.7 volt batts. It will just take alot longer than the "right"ones.

Now for clarification. It wont let me edit my post, so sorry about the double post...
I'm new on here, but know a reasonable amount about these batterys. They need a special lithium battery charger. The best thing a nimh charger could do to them is ruin them. A flaming death for your battery (and possibly yourself) is possible. I admit that I haven't taken the inbuilt protection circuits into account, but I have no idea how well they work, especially the dx cheapo ones.

I fly radio controlled helicopters which also use lipo batterys, and have seen many nasty accidents due to misuse of these cells.
