Charging batteries question

Does it lessen the life of a battery if we recharge them before they run of power? Does that depend on the kind of battery used?

Supposedly each Li-ion batter can be charged X number of times.....Li-ion batts don't have memory, so you will not shorten the output time by recharging before they are fully discharged.

No, it means the opposite. Li-on batteries discharge and charge to the full level no matter how they are used. You can drain them to the end or just use half, it won't effect the overall life of the battery.
