Hi Guys,

I was recently watching a review online of the aspire atlantis and sub ohm battery and the reviewer commented on charging the device using the mains etc.

I personally vape with a nautilus mini and the Aspire VV+ battery. I usually charge this by connecting this directly into my tv's USB port because my TV sit's beside my PC monitor and therefore I can watch it charging.

The reviewer has made me doubt this practise and I wonder if the safer alternative would be using the mains (with an aspire plug) below my desk. Obviously this way I cannot watch it in the same way and so far (4-5 charges (have only had the nautilus a week)) it has been fine charging using the TV.

I just don't want any 'fireworks' if you know what I mean.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Will

Personally, I think it's actually safer to use a computer or TV USB port than to use the wall-plug style.

The computer/tv port (since it's a real USB port) will have circuitry in it to detect if the device is trying to draw too much current, and shut the power off if it does. The wall-mount supplies are often just a very dumb 5v circuit without any of this extra circuitry.

Not all USB ports are created equal, though; there are different levels of power they can provide. If charging on your TV works (and doesn't take an inordinate amount of time) then go with it!

A couple years ago, I picked up a Sony eReader for my wife. I had the same model, and always charged mine off the laptop. She decided to plug hers into a cell phone charger plugged into the wall. My reader still works, hers was fried

I tend to not trust anything delicate to a random wall charger (my iStick and eGrip both get charged off the eGrip's provided charger)
