Charging pads/mats...?

So I was contemplating what it will be like to charge up an 808 battery all the time and I suddenly remembered those charging mats/pads that they have now.

Does anyone know if they would work with ecig batteries??

That one is just an example, and I know the iPhone battery is 3.7 volts and it works with that... Hmmm...

We have any electrical engineers in the house? Will this work without issue?

God how sweet it would be just to toss my ecigs on to that mat and forget about them.

LOL wouldn't that be the thing... make a little basket that you could just toss your batteries into and know that they'd all be charged when you need them!!

If anyone is look for a general idea of how you would go about hack induction charging into a batt, this: How to mod HTC EVO 4G to work with Palm Touchstone wireless charger is how you could do it for a 5v battery using Palm's touchstone.

I would love to see this as well .

Unfortunately, these still need adapters to work. There are very few phones you can just place on the mat without a special case or dongle that will charge. Now if someone could make an adapter that screwed into the end of your battery it would be sweet indeed.

Someone had posted a thread in the Experiments with equipment section about this, but nothing ever materialized. Hopefully someone is hard at work on this

Damn... I was so excited for a minute there...

Someone has to own one these pads and be willing to experiment on a ego battery or something...

I realize that there's a circuit which switches the battery to "charge mode" but does that really matter with induction charging?

I really like the old school 808 PCC. Charges both batts, and shuts down when they're full.

You can re-charge it with an iPhone cable, or even with an iPhone battery backup/booster!

Yeah, you have to screw the batteries in, instead of just throwing them on a mat or just laying in a cradle, but with the PCC and my iPhone backups, I've got literally days of use without actually touching the grid.

Now, to research solar chargers.....
