Couple of questions regarding charging batteries
  • Does it effect the life span of a large capacity (18650) battery if it is charged quick vs slow?
  • I won't leave a battery on the charger if I am not around but does it effect a Li-Ion battery negatively if it takes several trips to the charger before it is fully charged?
Thanks for any input

I thought Slow Charging was Better than Fast Charging for All Types of batteries?

Doing Multiple Trips to the Charger Shouldn't have an Effect on a Li-Ion Battery. Just not sure why you would?

One thing that Is supposed to adversely effect battery life is Fully Draining your batteries. Better to "Top Them Off" frequently verses Waiting until they are Fully Drained before charging.

I always heard that slow charging is better for acid filled batteries but wasn't sure if it is the same for Li-Ion.
Not very often do I have 5 or 6 hours straight to baby sit a charger and I won't put a battery on a charger if i'm asleep or not there.

You can google around for Li-ion battery charging bags, they're fireproof.
Also check your batteries with a meter before and after charging to ensure they are
not being over-drained, or over-charged.

Myself, I've switched mostly to NiMH batteries in a "Puck" mod. Had a carto short out, trashed
the battery springs, warmed the batteries a bit. Fixed the mod and recharged the batteries
and they are still working just fine. No gassing, fire, bursting, problems....:)

This is a Very Good Call.

I've seen too Many Posts of Batteries or Chargers Melting Down to feel Safe Sleeping while a Battery is on a Charger.
