Hey everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a question regarding the proper charging of my device. I previously had a pin type e cig and just chaged it however, but I recently upgraded to a kangertech subbox mini. It came with a USB charging cable and no wall outlet end. Now, I may be overthinking it, but the battery is a 4.2V battery if I remember correctly. The 2 charger ends that I have read 5V-1A and 5v-0.85A. I think the recommendation for current is 500mA which is 0.50A. However, the 850mA current will probably work, but what worries me is the 5V output. Will 5V overcharge the 4.2V battery? Should I go back to my vape shop and buy another wall outlet end? The ones I have are for a cell phone. What do you guys think? Am I overthinking it?

The place to look is in your Kanger documentation. A quick look online: Kanger Subox Mini Starter Kit - Full Review - Spinfuel The Art of Vaping

They claim 5V at 1A charging.

While in the past there have been cheap pen type mods that required current limiting at the USB port, me thinks you might be over thinking this one.

(be prepared for the barrage of posts saying that the only way to charge batteries is in an actively attended external charger)

    Howdy @Cowboy91!

I think you'll be o.k. with what you have. (To @GeorgeS's credit, I PREFER charging in a dedicated charger. But I *HAVE* charged in the mod when I haven't had a charger available)

My dedicated charger has options for 0.5-1.0A charging. So, 0.85 should be no stressor on the battery.
