julielynn, you are lucky the tech today is so advanced. The bats won't let you discharge them too far. The charger won't let you overcharge.

The only thing these batteries really don't like is temperature and water. Don't charge them freezing. And don't let them get hot. Don't leave them in your car. And don't drop them into a puddle, tub, toilet, stock pot, or margarita.

Keep them clean. Clean the threads, keep the top shiny and dry. Some isopropyl alcohol on a swab to clean the top before charging is good. Keep the "moat" clean (around the center post). A drinking straw is the right diameter.
