afaik they are li-ion batteries, quite well understood by now.
I charge them when they are about 1/2 empty. i've heard it's better for them, but I haven't seen any scientific papers on it. just people in forums saying it

Some other device I had said a 1/2 discharge counts for 1/2 a cycle.
halo specs say the batteries are good for 300 cycles, so you either get
300 drain til blinking and charge cycles, or 600 1/2 drain and charge cycles.
and if you believe the people on the forums, it will be higher than 600.

I figure they will last at least 6 months rotating between 2 batteries, so I don't
see a big deal in cost benefit in either way. perhaps it's better for the environment
to do half cycles though?

I'm told to avoid going to the low voltage cut off. If you normally get 20 hours, recharge after 18 hours. I have not heard the 300 full = 600 half cycle thing before.

I can Now tell when my batts are getting low. I couldn't when I first started, but I can now taste/feel the difference in the vape from full bats to near empty bats.
I am not too concerned with the bat life, as 300 cycles at one a day takes me to next August. By then I'll have gone through my next 4 future mods!!!!

it was a macbook, i found the text online

A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put notebook, iPod, and iPhone batteries through many charge cycles before they will only hold 80% of original battery capacity.

We have no idea. But we still have strong opinions.

I think a battery's life rating of 300 cycles is that after the equivalent of 300 full charges, the run time of the battery, or in our case, the number of hits, is expected to be 80% of new.

So if I get 600 hits new, after the 300 cycles, I should get 480 hits.

Can you imagine life without Li-Ion? We would have 4 AA batteries that might last as long as the 2 650mah we use currently. Then we'd have to buy new. The voltage drop would be unacceptable from fresh after not many hits, changing the vape and flavor. And 4 D size? Fuggetabout it. Cig-a-like??? Not possible. The other option would be Ni-Cad rechargables, but they'd have the same problems ad alkalines, except you can recharge them.

The only viable option would be a "brick" like the transformer/rectifier between the AC outlet and your laptop (or flatscreen, etc.)

Thank you Li-Ion.
