I only work 5 min from home. Based on other delivery times I thought I'd try to run home and catch the mailman before he keeps my Woodvil because I wasn't there to sign for it. I figured at the very least I could get the "missed you" slip so I could go straight to the PO after work.

Of course he was running early today and the slip was waiting in my mailbox. So I figured I'd drive around the block, maybe I just missed him. Just as I was about to give up... there he was. I followed him a bit waiting for the right moment and then pulled up next to him waving my little ticket. He smiled and waved me over. I'm sure he had no idea of the joy that was in that little box.

Back at work, I've of course opened it and showed it around. I've been tempted to just move the derringer, juice bottle, and battery from my other Reo and put it into service immediately. But somehow I've managed to restrain myself. Only about 30 min to go now. Then when home, a coat of mineral oil, some deoxit for the contacts, and a new derringer I picked up for it. And of course a full bottle of Wakonda. :vapor:

This is exactly what I would have done!
Nice job. Can't wait to see it!

I've been there and done that.. always never knock just leave slip in box.. sometimes there nice about it when you catch them at the next box and alot of the times there annoyed your bothering them and down right rude!

No adays at my new house the reg guy never bothers with getting out of his jeep if he can help it. Just leaves the small packages in the mailbox regardless if they need to be signed.. Works for me but gota suck on the other end of the stick.

I live in Canada, so they always knock... and then apologize for the inconvenience.

I've even had them write "sorry to have missed you" on the slip if I'm not at home for delivery.

Wow must be nice!

For a couple of years we had some women in her upper 40s as our mailwomen. Whenever I knew a package was coming and I hear her jeep I'd run out snd check the box and of course nothing.. get I the car and drive to her down the street and ask if there's a package she might of missed for me and she always sucked.. no!!! I don't have anything.. look behind her and say nope.

Go back to the house and wait a min.. here she pulls up and slams my package in my box! Haha.. bish.. happend atleast 3 times!

Sounds like fairy tale story to us here in the states. Dealing with USPS here, is like dealing with some kind of Mafia.

Hearing the mailman horror stories, I guess I'm pretty lucky. The guy I have is very good. He knocks, and is very pleasant. Of course, I know about what time he's coming, so I'm pretty quick to get to the door. Of course, my dogs hear the truck, and start going nuts before he even gets to the door.

Went to pick up the mail this afternoon and had a locker key in the box. I no sooner opened the door than 2 elderly folks were looking over my shoulder to look at the label. It seems Mr Perfect messed up again and had mixed up locker keys and packages. Those 2 were trying to recover mail order rx's that were not in the correct boxes.

Post Master pulled up with the keys and a couple of packages while I was recounting the the botched delivery of my Woodvil. He has to come out multiple times a week and sort it out, you would think that would be grounds to get rid of the guy, but he somehow keeps his job.

I live in Toronto ... my mailman bites.

he awards himself an extra day off couple times a month ... so, every other Friday or Monday ... no mail at all.

I've done the same, it depends on the mail person though. One lady always calls when there is a package. The other one is just lazy and doesn't even knock, she just puts the slip in the mailbox. Well, until I complained to her boss and she started knocking the next day. I know the route my mail lady goes so if I miss her I know the next subdivision where she's going. Benefit to living in a small town haha, I can easily see her jeep.

That exact thing happened to me today! My Provari Stealth was supposed to be in my hands right now, but my lazy mail woman didn't even knock on the door! Just left the card in my mail box... I caught her once before doing that, and her excuse was "... Im scared of your dogs"!

I have 2 cats, and 0 dogs... Once I realized she screwed me again I jumped in my truck but she was no where to be found...

I have to wait till 8:30 tomorrow morning to go get it from the Post Office... I could probably spit nails right now!

When I moved out of our condo I rented a truck. I had it parked kinda close to the locked mail boxes and was in the back sticking stuff in it and here pulls up the mail lady bish'n up a storm.. can you move the truck I need to get in here? Bark bark bark non stop to anyone she seem.. I was so ...... cause she wouldn't even give me a sec to walk out of the back of the truck to move it. I believe I was barkin back, so ...... off. Anyways she was all saying "we're timed ya know so I can't wait around can you move the truck??

After all that she managed to fit in front of the damn box anyways.. of course I moved the truck a little but gawd give a man a sec to respond!

So anyways maybe there timed and that's why they could care less about waiting for people to sign a damn card?

I guess we should all start calling and complaining about it so they give them time to do there job.
