Our resident homeless guy is mad at me because I don't give him ciggies anymore on my way home *lol*

ok lets not use the word "cheating" ok? to cheat is act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage. (sorry my cousin's the grammar nazi of the family "the editor") but words are important.

if you lied about it or somehow got some advantage out of smoking then yeah ..you cheated.

you had a momentary lapse due to an inability to say no ..so you wouldn't hurt his feelings (its a rare thing for the ciggies to come back the other way in that incident so lets call it 'shock" and call it a day) :p

give him a pack next time you see him (or a baggie full as I've been known to do)...and vape along with him (and you can keep the quit date, ..... happens):p

It's cheating; a rose by any other name. Sorry. Get back on the horse if you want. I have many homeless peeps I help out along my way. I would never take anything from them let alone something I would put into my mouth. No offense but....

Maybe it's just me but if I smoked half an anaolg I may as well go buy a carton...it's a done deal...

Good Luck--
Wow. You wouldn't take anything from a homeless person, let alone something you'd put in your mouth? I don't think she's going to get cooties off a cigarette that was inside a pack. And that carton remark is wrong, too. I've been tobacco free for almost 2yrs, and my husband smokes. I've absent-mindedly lit his cigs before, and I hated the taste. I didn't have to run out and buy a carton.
Maybe you didn't mean to come across judgemental, but I think you did. We're all here to help each other. One cig won't kill her, and next time she can vape while he smokes. But the joy she gave him is priceless.

I smoked for over 40 years and was a 3 PAD smoker when I started vaping. I live in a home full of smokers (tried to get them to vape but they are subborn). I still smoke one of my wifes cigarettes every once in a while, but don't consider that cheating at all.

Now if I smoked one of my wifes cigarettes and then wnet and bought a pack, that wouyld be cheating...:)
Lol, I know that feeling. My husband smokes and vapes. It really annoys me; I wish he'd get into building mods or something. Lol He thinks eliquid is like cigarettes, and only likes one flavor:) But at least he's smoking less. My avi is a pic of our daughter who also smokes, and refuses to vape at all.

I'm glad you clarified that. You were a wee bit harsh about homeless people. I'm extra sensitive when it comes to the homeless. My late uncle was mentally ill because of trauma he suffered serving in Vietnam. He had money, but his illness constantly drove him to try to hide amoung the homeless. He thought people were trying to poison him. Anyway, I got to know these people, and most are either mentally ill, or really down on their luck. It's very sad. I even know some that vape when they can, but they don't always have a way to charge their batteries.

Why would a homeless person rub the cigarette all over their fingers? And, yes, I would not hesitate to accept it. As a nurse, I know germs don't survive long. If the homeless guy had Ebola or coughed all over it then I wouldn't take it from him, or anyone else. Don't assume all homeless people are filthy.

Don't beat yourself up.
Maybe every 3-4 months i'll take a couple of puffs on a cigarette when i'm in the company of smokers. It's like a test.
I've been vaping for two years and in that time have probably smoked the equivalent of two cigarettes.
What surprises me is that you didn't mention how it tasted. I can confirm that yesterday i had one puff of a stinky and the taste was like a lizard had .... in my mouth. I felt as though i stank for a good hour afterwards.....

I haven't smoked since June 25 2013 and what I'm wondering is if you enjoyed it? Not trying to rub it in, just many ex smokers after vaping for a while don't think it tastes good. Actually many say it's terrible.

I was the guy who smoked his face off all the time from morning till night. Just curious how long you have quit and if it tasted great?

I would have just whipped out my ecig and vaped with the guy while he smoked. My wife still smokes and it doesn't really even bother me as much as I thought it would. I never liked her cigarettes though (Benson and Hedges lights). If I ran out and borrowed one of hers I would cut the filter in half to be able to smoke it. I used Camel 99's.

i wont lie, i did enjoy the flavor. i hadnt smoked for about two weeks before then

We should all be so lucky to brighten someone's day with such a simple gesture. It's not about your social standing, it's about a true act of human kindness. We don't have enough of it and who gives a damn if it involved a cigarette. There's a bigger picture here OP, so don't sweat the details.

I agree, i see him a lot and try to help him out if i can. ive been homeless too so i know its rough and making a friend can really brighten your day. i actually did think about showing him my vape but decided it wasnt the proper time, and i work outside so i wouldnt have been able to give him any advice on where to recharge it,etc and the way he smokes he would need some subohm stuff to give him the fix hes used to. i did give him a few new packs though, and he seemed pretty excited about it.
and just to clear anything up, hes in stable mental condition, hes homeless because his house burned, and hes actually pretty clean, doesnt smell, and shaves regularly, so i wasnt worried about catching anything

While out today my wife and I saw a homeless man digging around an ashtray outside the pharmacy. She still smokes and had a pack with about 7 or 8 left in it and asked me to pull up there and give them to him. I did that, but wished I could have given him an e-cig instead. I thought about handing him one of my iSticks but then figured it would just be wasted if he has no means of getting supplies and keeping it charged. But I did think though that I would like to grab a few packs of cigarettes and keep in my truck so that when I see the next homeless person struggling to find a nicotine fix I could just hand that person a full pack and some matches. I'm not proud to say this but the truth is the truth. I have the tendency to get addicted to things. Among all the substances I've ever had an addiction to, nicotine is the absolute hardest to overcome. Otherwise I wouldn't even fool with vaping at all....what would be the point? And I can't think of anything to add more insult to injury than to be homeless...lost in plain sight...with all the challenges a homeless person would face, and at the same time have that incredible craving.

Homelessness just sucks!

I think you did great. When I lived in a city and worked downtown I always carried extra packs to give to folks who were bumming a cigarette. I've managed to avoid homelessness, but I've been awfully close, and there are no tobacco stamps to help out. Most of us were addicted to cigarettes before we found this alternative.

Some people can't afford home insurance; times are tough. I'd like to be able to give the homeless smokers a disposable Blu, maybe, but they've really become expensive. They don't last 2 packs worth, as advertised, and just one is about 9 bucks where I live. I'm sure he appreciated the tobacco, and may not have even smoked a disposable. You did good.

That's a kind gesture; I wish there were more folks like you in the world. You treated him with dignity, as a equal. The poor man probably doesn't get that from many people. Buying him a pack is also a great gesture. God bless you! I imagine it would be difficult for the homeless to find ways to charge ecigs, and the disposables are more than analogs now.

You would imagine wrong then.
How do you think they charge cell phones? (Yes, homeless people the world around have cell phones)

so today i smoked. i was at work and i saw this homeless guy that i see all the time. he offered me a cigarette because im always nice to him. i didnt have the heart to refuse so we talked and smoked for awhile.

i dont really consider that cheating. i didnt want to smoke it. it would only be cheating if i wanted it, right?

I wonder if my wife would feel the same way if one of her friends offered me sex and I didnt turn her down because I didnt want to offend her.....I mean its only cheating if I wanted it right?

Its cheating but dont beat yourself up over it.

Learn from it and dont do it again.

Using a PV is a choice. The choice to enjoy nicotine without the harmful stuff. Having a puff on a real cigarette to me is no big deal and it certainly isn't cheating in any way or form. It's just a choice you made on that day.
It's no different than me having an espresso when i normally drink decaff. Sometimes i want one, mostly i don't.
Feel proud of the gesture you made and forget the cigarette.

I know a guy that was homeless for a couple of years; he lived in a tent. He didn't have a phone. Some do, but having to walk someplace to constantly charge batteries, and buy coils, ejuice and carry that around would be burdonsome. I doubt the homeless feel like walking to a Vape Shop, or would feel welcome.
