I just bought a $40 Aspire Atlantis yesterday. Its supposed to last for at least two weeks. I havent even completed a day and something is wrong. It was working just fine yesterday. I went to sleep, now woke back up, tried to use it with my Variant box mod and now it keeps saying check atty on my mod! Whats going on? The Atlantis comes with a 2nd coil and its doing the same thing. What do I do? coils usually go bad gradually. This one went from working perfectly last night to not working at all this morning.

Its a box mod by Variant. It goes from 5 watts to 260 watts.

A. Nice mod. How's that going? 2. Make sure the 510 connector pin on the Atlantis is proud; is protruding from the 510 connector post threads. D. Check the tightness of your physical connection from the coil to the atty and the atty to the mod. If it's tight and clean, is the 510 connector pin in your mod springy?

You could probably get that error message with 3 conditions:

- Coil resistance too low
- No connection (infinite resistance) - centre pin is not making contact
- Dead short - usually the clearo's connector has shorted out, centre to outer

Got a multimeter? Hard to work out what's happening without one :)

$10 for an easier life...

Its tight. I thought the problem was the atomizer. I have 2 mods. A Varient and an Itaste Vtr. I tried using a Kangertech atomizer which works just fine on the Itaste mod. I then tried to use it for the Variant mod and it still says "check atty" The coil is brand new, I just put it in.

Ok, well that indicates the problem is on the variant then.

Usually it's a 510 connector problem; centerpin shorting out on the side.
The if you get the check atty message without any atty attached that would confirm the problem is on the variant itself; if it only happens when you screw down an atty on top, then it suggests the problem is to do with the center pin insulator when the center pin gets pressed down too hard on it.

the check atty problem has nothing to do with the atty at all in most cases. i had same problem its the fire button the fire button goes bad and to check atty u have to hit the fire button. to check to see if this is correct check your atty on different device and then trouble shoot the device will it turn on and off and can you turn it up or down if you answer yes to all of that then most likely your button is bad get a new tac button heat the soldier up on the bored and pull old button out heat soldier up again and put new one in that should fix the problem.

if this works for you let me know i just had the same problem with 2 of them
