In its most basic configuration, yes. There are other details you do want to sort out though.

You need to make sure all of the conductive material or "wires" are rated to handle the amount of power the batteries will put out
If you don't use the proper type and size of wire you could start a fire, potentially electrocute yourself and or die from such an event

hmmm. now that's scary I'm thinking about putting a fairly thick copper wire, will a 1mm thick wire do?
