Hi guys, check out my frugal as hell, but ridiculously cheap coil jig
All you need is:
-2, hammer-in w/flange insert nuts (size:1/4"-20)
-2, 1" machine screws (size: also 1/4"-20)
-wood (size: your choice, I used a square scrap of 2x4 and rectangular 1x2 half the width of the 2x4 piece)
-common sense (size: may vary from individual to individual :p)
-kanthal!

For a whopping $2.24USD you can have one too :D
(ignore the electric tape I kept getting splinters so I fixed it, it's sturdily held together with 2 wood screws)
It's ridiculous how easy this was to make, I work in the hardware dept. at lowes, and grabbed these 2 mins after getting off, came home screwed the blocks together, drilled two holes, and hammered the insert nuts in, boom. And it can hold any guide from guitar wire to a 1/2" drill bit. I'm sure these parts are at home depot, and ace hardware too. Happy building!

I was thinking about doing something like that. I was going to put a post in on the side of a 2x4 to wrap the coil on, kinda like the one that's all the way on the right in your image. Then put a bolt with a wingnut about 6 inches away to hold the Kanthal tight, the kind I get comes on a little spool.

That's nice though !!! I'm having a lot of fun with this !!
