if you wanted you could also twist 2x 30g to make a wire close to 28g, and if you get or have got your charger for your mechanical then you could twist up 3x or even 4x 30g to get close to 26 & 24gauge but try 2x & 3x first, and you will probably need to be around 0.5Ω.
on your regulated device stick to 30g with 1/16th which is 1.5mm id(inside diameter of coil)
& on your mech 1.5mm - 2.5mm id
heating your wire before wrapping will help get the wraps to sit where you put them, i would'nt bother wrapping them and then try to heat and squeeze them together, the initial stage of actually wrapping them next to each other is more important so practice, or there is another way where you can just wrap them with gaps and then form them together---- here is a vid i found-------->>
Tension wrapping micro coils - YouTube
and your wick you need to have it so its nice and snug, the tails of the wick that come out of the end of your coil you would be better off having them just long enough so they can soak up the juice from your deck(the floor of your atty), you dont always need lots of wick inside your atty
EDIT: i just looked at your pics, i also notice you have your coils really far away from your airholes, try get the coils so when you look through the airholes your coils are centered and have them about 1mm-2mm from hole, close is very good but just double and triple check that your atty cap isnt touching your coils when you put it on orelse you will get a short
hope some of this helps
