Do you have drill bits? That is what I typically wrap coils around

No, but I can get them.. What sizes would you recommend for some basic coil configurations? I was thinking maybe one for the size you're recommending and then another for the "macro" coil.. Then I could probably just use this screwdriver for the macros..

Have you seen the wire gizmo? Several swear by it as a great coil wrapping tool. I plan on getting one myself one of these days. Here's a good vid. Look Mom - NO Torch, NO squeeze - TENSIONED Micro Coil - YouTube

Haven't seen that before but it's definitely on my list now. I wish my coils would light up like that, I know I must be doing something wrong because I have never seen one of my coils glow like that.. Thanks for sharing the vid! BTW any idea what kind of MOD he was using there?

if you wanted you could also twist 2x 30g to make a wire close to 28g, and if you get or have got your charger for your mechanical then you could twist up 3x or even 4x 30g to get close to 26 & 24gauge but try 2x & 3x first, and you will probably need to be around 0.5Ω.

on your regulated device stick to 30g with 1/16th which is 1.5mm id(inside diameter of coil)
& on your mech 1.5mm - 2.5mm id

heating your wire before wrapping will help get the wraps to sit where you put them, i would'nt bother wrapping them and then try to heat and squeeze them together, the initial stage of actually wrapping them next to each other is more important so practice, or there is another way where you can just wrap them with gaps and then form them together---- here is a vid i found-------->> Tension wrapping micro coils - YouTube

and your wick you need to have it so its nice and snug, the tails of the wick that come out of the end of your coil you would be better off having them just long enough so they can soak up the juice from your deck(the floor of your atty), you dont always need lots of wick inside your atty

EDIT: i just looked at your pics, i also notice you have your coils really far away from your airholes, try get the coils so when you look through the airholes your coils are centered and have them about 1mm-2mm from hole, close is very good but just double and triple check that your atty cap isnt touching your coils when you put it on orelse you will get a short :)

hope some of this helps :)

Thank you for all of that. I am a newbie so any and all advice is absorbed and appreciated. I will try some twisting since right now it's my easiest option and when I do these coils again I will go ahead and locate them to where you said. I think that's another thing I am struggling with it leg length, I either get them on the posts or way off, but at least now I know what I am shooting for..

Secondly the AR mods, if I recall, had switch issues in the beginning and that may be part of your problem. If your switch is clean and seems to be operating correctly then it could be the spring. Try replacing that and see if it makes a difference.

What if I told you that I pulled it apart and it had NO spring! Instead of a spring it has 2 washers which are magnetized to oppose each other thus when you let go the magnets force the switch back out... I still suspect that this mod is not authentic and things like this really show me that I may be right..

On a lighter note I redid the coil in my kayfun today and I think I have really started to learn what I am doing, 30g 10 wraps around a toothpick, made it completely uniform, every coil is touching with no wonkiness. The coil came out just over 2ohm which is where I was shooting for with the MVP and it heats the second you press the button, best vape I have ever had.. Can't wait to redo the patriot clone and build the igo w6.. My charger will finally be here tomorrow and I am going by my local shop to get some 24g.. Gonna be a fun day.

It's been a minute but I wanted to update again. I finally went and bought a set of drill bits! I have been using the 3/32" for everything and that in addition to the 24g wire and it's a whole other world! I have redone my patriot with 24g 7 wraps on the 3/32" dual coil and it puts me right at .2, then I redid my kayfun with the 3/32" using 30g and it came out at 2.1.. Everything is working better now thanks to all the advice I got from this forum.. I reduced my wick amount in the patriot and that helped also, in addition to all of that I got a fairly large bore drip tip and now just a second's pull on that patriot puts out more than double the vapor I get from my kayfun with a 3 second pull.

I also stopped using that junk AR mod and got a panzer (clone) and I am completely happy with it now.. As a science experiment I put the spring from the panzer in the AR to see what happened and it worked great, so at least I know if I get a spring the AR would be a good back up, or maybe something for a second set up, maybe a cloud chaser, who knows.. I am still struggling with the igo-w6, but that's another realm of pain in the .... right there..

On another plus side my wife also got herself a panzer and with her tobh clone she's pretty happy too and I had her wrap one of the coils in it after showing her how with the first one, so she's on the way too but I don't see her chasing clouds anytime soon.

Thank you all again for the advice, every bit of it helped.
