I received an Espresso Pawn yesterday as a gift and its got a very strong acrylic smell to it (almost like super glue). I also own a blue pawn which I bought several months ago with no detectable odor. Its very off putting and I can't stand to use it even though I love the look of it with my REO woodvil.
I tried soaking it in water at work today, after a while the water had the smell to it but it didn't help any, then twice tonight it was soaked in vodka for several hours, both times the vodka ended up smelling like the DT but no luck getting rid of the smell from the pawn itself. Now its going to soak in vinegar overnight. I emailed Cherry asking for advice this morning but haven't heard back yet.
I thought it was weird that I wasn't able to find anyone with a similar experience when I searched since the cherry tips seem to be pretty popular. Anyone else get a stinky drip tip or advice to share on getting rid of the smell?
edit- actually meant to post this in general but REO is my default ECF forum sorry, maybe the REOnauts will save the day.
