I received an Espresso Pawn yesterday as a gift and its got a very strong acrylic smell to it (almost like super glue). I also own a blue pawn which I bought several months ago with no detectable odor. Its very off putting and I can't stand to use it even though I love the look of it with my REO woodvil.

I tried soaking it in water at work today, after a while the water had the smell to it but it didn't help any, then twice tonight it was soaked in vodka for several hours, both times the vodka ended up smelling like the DT but no luck getting rid of the smell from the pawn itself. Now its going to soak in vinegar overnight. I emailed Cherry asking for advice this morning but haven't heard back yet.

I thought it was weird that I wasn't able to find anyone with a similar experience when I searched since the cherry tips seem to be pretty popular. Anyone else get a stinky drip tip or advice to share on getting rid of the smell?

edit- actually meant to post this in general but REO is my default ECF forum sorry, maybe the REOnauts will save the day.

I have the exact same problem and was going to post about it a few days ago.

Its the espresso pawn as well. I have many pawns and this one is terrible.
It took me a couple days to figure out it was the DT tasting so bad. I thought it was a bad carto at first and tried to vape through it. Then I tried an atty and still a terrible taste :(

Finally when the drip tip was off and a different one went on It cleared up ...... The light bulb went on.

I smelled the pawn and almost gagged. Tried some vodka and the steam cleaner it still stinks.

I'm going to email Cheryl right now.

Thanks Tim. Since yours is also the espresso I have a feeling it may be the type of acrylic they used in the manufacturing of this color tip. But I'd think they would have noticed if that's the case and stopped them from going out because the smell/taste is far from subtle. It actually took me a little while to realize it as well since I was trying it on a new atty and had been vaping a different juice. Let me know if you hear back from them.

All ready got my answer back from Cheryl @ cherryvape ..... She's just great.

The odor is from the turning process (coolant I presume)
She said they wash each batch 5-6 times and usually let sit. The espressos were back ordered for a bit so they were rushing them right out.

Her suggestion was to wash in hot (not boiling) water with dish soap a few more times and it should go away.

But as always she offered to send a new one if I did not want to bother with washing.

I told her I would wash it and a few more times and see. I am sure I can get it up and running myself.

Hope this helps.

Well, it just might be what Cheryl said, that they're new.

I panicked about my charger a couple of weeks ago and ordered a new one from RTD and, just for the heck of it, picked up a couple of CV pawns from him. Neither had a discernible smell (my nose is pretty good), and one was the espresso color. Because they didn't come direct from CV, they'd both probably had more time to vent whatever odor the material they're made of has.

How about a baking soda soak? That stuff pulls odors really well and should rinse easily.

I checked farther down my inbox and there was another email from Cherry Vape

They have decided to make a whole new batch of espresso pawns .... (guess there were a few complaints maybe) ??

She asked for my address and they will send out a new one when they are completed.
Cheryl also asked that I pass this info on to anyone else that had a problem.

Just shoot them an email and you will get a new one sent out.
