kpax, you've been on my mind and I hope you continue getting better! I still have terrible pain in my flank area, both sides, but my kidney tests showed no problem there. I guess it's just muscular but it sure hurts!!

Wow, gallstones!! I read that can also happen to people who lose and gain a lot of weight. I've gained weight since being on Prednisone and I sure hope I can lose it. It sucks that none of my clothes fit and I feel fat! Luckily I wasn't overweight to begin with or I would really be in trouble!

Thanks so much GoodDog. I do feel even better today. Hopefully flank pain goes away for you or you find out what is wrong. Feel free to PM me anytime if you want. Even if I don't post much I will check board occaisionally. We certainly experienced some similar syptoms. I also want to noet that I have no preexisting conditions, am on no meds and have never had allergies (not even to things like poison ivy or oak - I know rare) I really feel for you with the Prednisone. Don't worry about the weight; I am a tiny person and always put on a few pounds in winter. I have clothes from size 0-4 :)

I sometimes during the day have a very slight "pain" like a heavy feeling on the ride side of the chest, just under my breast. (I'm male so don't get horny). Is this what you are feeling?

I am going to bump your post up so it doesn't get lost. Maybe the OP or someone else can answer who has just right side pain. I was having pain in both sides but you sure have the location right on. I am a female and a lot of the tight/pressure feeling is where the band of a woman's bra would go. Later it progressed to pain when taking deep breaths. I found myself tugging on bra band throughout the day as it felt like it was suffocating me. I realized just how much of a problem I was having when I went to do this several times and wasn't even wearing one.....lol

I am glad you got checked out and I hope you feel better. Hopefully the pain killers will be helping you.

I went to a clinic tonight myself after work and they could not find anything obviously wrong. Didn't think I had pleursy or pneumonia and no obvious reason why it hurts to take deep breaths. I am on day 5 of this BTW. EKG was fine and lung X Ray was also good. I don't know what it is and I just hope it goes away. I had a very sleepless night last night worrying about this -glad you were not so serious that you had to wake your 3 yr old :) and I can honestly say I have never felt anything like this before. Please keep us updated.

As a side note, I am really glad to have ECF people around....doc I saw tonight had never even HEARD of E-cigs. I relate to not knowing much about them....but she didn't even know they existed. ...

I'm glad they couldn't find anything serious. I suffered the same thing a few years ago (pain in the right side when I breathed in). They couldn't find anything either but, the doc said there are muscles near the lung, as well as the diaphram. Either can get pulled or strained (even from something minor like coughing or sneezing the wrong way) and cause the same discomfort.

He said it would clear up in a week or two, and he was right. I was back to normal about 5 days later.

That said, even if I get those pains again, I'll continue to get them checked out and I would encourage others to do the same. Internal strains aren't as easy to diagnose as external muscle groups and it's best to leave up those types of inspections to the pros since so many other serious conditions may cause the same symptoms.
