Salemgold; Thanks so much for reminding us of the possible severity of this. 3 MONTHS in ICU...Oh Lord, your husband must be thanking you to this day :)

moonrai1980; they weren't sure what to relate it to; cold or whatever but are scheduling me for a pulmonary and stress test. I am one of these very unusual people who after 24 years of smoking heavily have the lungs of a non smoker and not even COPD. I also "look" healthy so there is a tendency for doctors to not take ANY of my symptoms seriously. Perfect example is my blood pressure is WAY up since vaping (I have never had a top # reading above 119, it's usually in the 90's and they joke about whether I am alive LOL) Well, it was 147 the 2nd week I started vaping and and 138 last night. (just so noone reads this and thinks nic I elimated that in Nov) Since it's not like it is above 155 and I need to be on BP meds they are blowing it off but it's very unusual for me.
Dr said same thing as you did about feeling like you are drowing in your lungs and me not wheezing so couldn't be pneumomia BUT see GoodDogs post above who just got out of the hospital with pneumonia and NO coughing, etc...don't know what to think as I still feel bad....

I just spent 4 days in the hospital with pneumonia. The only symptoms I had was weakness and shortness of breath. My lungs were clear and I could take deep breaths with no problem. It was only when they did a CT scan that they found I had it. I didn't even have cold symptoms! I'm concerned that it may be related to vaping. It started shortly after I got a new flavor and was vaping it heavy. Probably a coincidence but I'll sure be glad when more testing is done on these things.

GoodDog; Based on what you said it is possible I have pneumonia or a lung infection. Dr told me last night when I mentioned pleurisy that it's related to pneumonia and is a condtion from having it.

You said you discovered with a CT scan? Am I wrong but isn't that for head/brain? If you can give any more details so I can seek a second opinion it would be much appreciated. I don't think OP would mind as we have similar symptoms and although he stated he was better yesterday he was not completely cured.

dvd0020;

How are you doing? Please post this weekend if you get a chance. An update on me; Some of the heaviness is my chest is alleviating but I am getting a sharp stabbing pain now in left side in ribcage but on the mid to low side of lung. The feeling of discomfort has moved to my lower chest and even abdomen somewhat and I am wondering if there is any change in location for you?

One other thing Dr mentioned was..."this sure sounds like acid reflux attacks...." I have prescription Zantac but feeling is still there.

I have Lupus so they did quite a work up on me. I tend to wait to go to doctors until I can't walk. They did an MRI on my brain and a CT scan on my chest. Sorry, can't help you with more than that. I did think I might have pleurisy because of the pain in my flank section, but I guess that's just muscle spasms, they didn't say. After 2 transfusions, 3 IVs of iron and antibiotics I feel like a new person. LOL

Also my oxygen levels were always 100. I was stealth vaping in the hospital and I noticed my blood pressure is significantly higher than before I started vaping. I had to start on BP meds a couple of months ago. :(

This is freaking me out. I am 44 and my whole entire life I have never had high BP. Very low but in healthy safe range like you. I don't mean to alarm you but I am alarmed for ME also. BTW, I didn't even vape in the 5 days prior to 138 reading yesterday. But at least it was lower than 147 when yes, I stealth vaped too.

I wasn't going to post because I wasn't feeling any of the lung issues you were talking about. However, when you mentioned the sharp pain I did have some of that out of nowhere. Since vaping and using snus I got two colds that disappeared in a couple days. When I was smoking a I could be coughing for weeks after getting sick.

Then I caught whatever was going on around here this fall and it again took weeks to get rid of. I finally stopped coughing, but a couple weeks or so I generated some pain in my right side that made it uncomfortable to lay on my right side. It was pretty uncomfortable for a few days but eventually went away. There are a lot of things going around. I'd check with people you've spent time around to see if anyone else is having similar issues. I can't tie mine to anything to do with vaping since I only use very low nic at this point and only occasionally use my PV anymore.

All I can say is, I had double pneumonia in June. No symptoms, tripped over the dog's leash and broke a rib. X-ray's taken, they thought I had a pulmonary embolism, next a CAT scan. I had double pnuemonia w/enlarged lymph nodes. Didn't start vaping until August. The whole thing was very scary. The radiologist, x-ray tech and a doctor all thought it was an embolism the way it looked.

It has been discovered that a CT scan can actually pick up lung cancer better than the tests they have been using so it would make sense to use one in GoodDogs situation. If you have a da*m Dr that listens to you.

This happened to me as well months back. I won't say the vendor because I don't think the juice was bad but something in it made me very sick very quickly.

Yes indeed it was a good thing I broke the rib. One of the officers I work with had been urging me to go to the doctor before that as I was tired all the time. That may have been part of it, but after the 2nd cat scan in September to re-check the lymph nodes, which were still enlarged, they sent me to a lung specialist. I might note that both the doctor and lung doctor thought it great that I had quit smoking cigars and was vaping instead. Both hoping I would quite the vaping soon because of the nic. I said no way and they said -OK, really not harmful.

Anyway, lung doctor said no lymphoma, need another cat scan next yr, but wanted me to do a sleep study. Ended up I was soooo tired because I had sleep apnea. Didn't want the machine - now very glad I have it. Back to normal. Who would have known??

Wow dspin!! I'm glad you're okay! Before this I thought you had to have respiratory symptoms to have pneumonia. Probably a very good thing you broke that rib, huh?

Well, it's been 5 days since I posted with chest pain and I had it for 5 days so this makes 10. It's not gone but it's at least better. The heaviness has greatly subsided. The stabbing pains in left lung which were as much as hourly only came twice yesterday and once today. I hope that means they will soon be gone for good.

What stopped the pain was making myself cough. It's like I was coughing up clear VG/PG. I am not sick at all nor do I have a cold. I don't know what else it is. I have felt the chest pain getting better the more and more I have coughed. I read on another thread about people coughing up clear mucous and did board research that this is a symptom for some. They didn't mention this much "pain" though but in my case the coughing has alleviated much of it.

Anyone who has right sided chest pain please have your gallbladder checked. I thought what I had was vape related but I went to the doctor and have gallstones. Gallbladder problems also cause pain in the back, and gassy feelings, heartburn, GAD, and shoulder pain.

Get it checked if you have the pain or at least look it up.

kpax, you've been on my mind and I hope you continue getting better! I still have terrible pain in my flank area, both sides, but my kidney tests showed no problem there. I guess it's just muscular but it sure hurts!!

Wow, gallstones!! I read that can also happen to people who lose and gain a lot of weight. I've gained weight since being on Prednisone and I sure hope I can lose it. It sucks that none of my clothes fit and I feel fat! Luckily I wasn't overweight to begin with or I would really be in trouble!
