My standard recommendation. Take a look at the mechanical REO Grand bottom feeding box mod and a Reomizer 2 rebuildable atomizer (comes with a drip tip). Its 6 ml tank and 18650 battery make for a wake-up to bedtime, one-handed all day dripping device in a tiny, discreet package. The REO Grand is about as tall and as deep as a pack of standard length filter cigarettes, but not nearly as wide, and it fits in the hand comfortably. Box mods don't make you look like a pervert kissing the head of a sex toy to non-vapers--more like you're getting a ciggie you've just shaken up in a pack. It's EMP and static-proof since there are no electronics to fail, and it's rugged, milled out of a single block of aluminum. You can wash it in the kitchen sink. For many, a REO is the last mod they'll buy (other than more REOs)they become "reonauts."
Although you can start off with 1.5Ω cartomizers or drip atomizers on the REO Grand, it's dead simple to wrap coils for the RM2 rebuildable atomizer, at your own custom resistance level, out of inexpensive and readily available Kanthal or Nichrome wire. There are tons of "how-to" videos out there! The RM2 base is ceramic, so accidental shorts are very unlikely, but you'll want a cheap multimeter/ohms checker to double-check that. The posts are widely spread and drilled for easy coil mounting. The REOs have a collapsible battery spring for short circuit protection you can easily and inexpensively replace if need be. Use button-top AW IMRs. You can use silica or ekowool for the wick, but many (including me) have found the most flavorful wick material to be cotton (from cotton balls or even Q-tips). I think the RM2 on a REO is vaping nirvana. For more info, view the Reos Mods forum here.
