Volcanoecigs sells
three models. If you have the
Volcano model (an L88, e.g., blu) or even the
Magma (a 510), then an HV
mod is a
huge leap upward. You haven't even experienced LR atomizers to know if higher watts (i.e., the result of lower atomizer resistance or higher battery voltage) are right for you ... or how much higher.
I urge you to give strong consideration to a "fat batt" (i.e., eGO-type), e.g., Volcanoecigs'
Inferno model, which has been getting some good
reviews here. Any of these fat batts (described in
this article) provide much more mAh (milliamp hours: determines frequency of recharging) and enable the use of the much larger capacity mega atomizers/cartridges or cartomizers, as well as LR atomizers (including the increasingly popular
Cisco LR 306). Also, with an inexpensive adapter, you can try out
other atomizers, such as the 901 or my favorite, the penstyle (e.g., 801, Joye 302, BE112).
[Mention of the penstyle reminds me to make you aware of the new Boge Leo and
JSB VGO-801 fat batts, which have come out since that article was written. They really are quite wonderful. I described the Leo in
this review of the unit I received from
Vapin' in the Cape and have just received the VGO-801 from the only U.S. supplier who yet carries it,
BreezEsmokes.]
Now, if it is the
Inferno model that you have, then certainly you already know all this; and moving to an HV mod makes sense. Even then, however, I recommend
variable voltage. More and more VV mods are becoming available. You don't have to commit to 6V or 5V, but can select
any voltage level (e.g., 4.7V or 5.3V) and vary it depending on atomizer, e-liquid, and mood. These VV mods (and the 5V and 6V ones) are described in
this post of my
Wonderful World of Mods in the ECF Library. Since that was written, ProVape has come out with the
ProVari, another intriguing VV mod.
And you should consider the advantages of a
juice-fed mod (at whatever voltage), described in
this post of the WWM. For example, for ~$135+/-, you could get a 6V
Ali'i,
Reo Grand, or
Phidias.
In addition to those linked articles above, I suggest that you explore ViZi's outstanding
mods database, which also includes fat batts (he calls them "custom mods") ... and, of course, read/view lots of reviews here on ECF of any of the devices that strike your fancy.
Or you could forget all this research and having to consider all those head-spinning alternatives

; and spend 35 bucks on the
5V Big KaZoo: probably the least expensive way to enter the world of HV.
