I did a forum search and read for about an hour. Most everything references mods. I want to know about tanks. Long story short I am new and just found out about fasttech this weekend. I noticed most of the cheaper clones are made of Chromed Brass and that doesn't seem like a good idea, but what do I know?

I worry about anything that would come in direct contact with my juice.

So I know there is only so much I can do with the plastics used, other than going with glass instead (still like the EVODs to go with my protanks). But I would think the metal thing would be something answered time and time again, so was hoping to get one of you to help me out.

In short, what's the deal with "Chromed Brass" tanks?

**BUMP** Nobody has any help? I've been digging and know brass is soft which caused problems with the VAMO I'm going to order, but chrome plated should play well and taste well with juice? Best I could find about tanks so far is maybe my protanks are chrome plated steel??? I really thought this would be an easy Q for me to figure out, I must be missing something

Chrome plating is hard, but brittle. It can chip off and expose the brass under it. Brass has a flavor that you may be able to taste in your juice. It is also soft and easily deformed. So Hard coating + soft base = chips in the chrome.

SS is very hard, doesn't chip or deform easily, and is relatively tasteless. Though it is more expensive, and harder to make parts out of. Less time between changing blades to cut threads, drills, etc.

So cheaper models will be chromed brass because it is cheaper and easier to work with.

Well, you hit on all my worries lol. I think the fact I can't find a straight answer means anything I buy could be what I'm currently looking at. Maybe I'll buy 1 of the mini pro 2 clones instead of a pack of the EVOD clones to see how it works since they don't sell the authentic mini pro 2 with removable drip tip (not a fan of the metal tips). Thanks for the input

This about covers it all. Anything you can get that is stainless go with that. I don't trust chrome personally. Basically stainless is the chrome without the soft inside. That is what makes stainless, well stain less. It has chromium mixed in the steel. Chromium is chrome. Go with stainless. I also would not trust chrome on threads, it could chip and bye bye threads.
