Chuck atomizer blowouts! HELP!

Were your batteries LiFEPO4? It would only make a difference in how long the batteries will survive being charged/discharged and how safe they are.

801 seems to be the standard for high-voltage mods because they have huge cartridges and mods are known to burn through juice fast. It keeps the atomizer wet as you always should and lubricates the atomizer well.

I would personally try out a 510. They seem to be pretty successful.

I'm going with a Little Chuck, simply because if the ban does happen I don't want to risk destroying my atomizers.

I don't have a Chuck...yet....but I'm using the Prodigy with 801 penstyle attys and you still have to keep the wick wet. I drip because one can't depend on the cartridges to deliver the amount of juice needed to keep the atty from burning up. ALSO, there's a learning curve for sure with the higher voltage units. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE BUTTON. I've burned out 5 attys in 2 weeks because I forget...

My suggestion overall: If you're happy with the taste and vapor output with the 3.7v but want longer life then go with that configuration. If you want hot vaper, don't mind using a lot of juice, are not a ditz  like me, and can keep your finger off the button, then go for the 5v - 6v mods.

Just my 2 cents.

"Integrated microchip prevents overcharging lengthens battery life"
I would guess this means they are protected...

I might order some more from order bulk. I've seen people buying adapters for CR2 bats for the Chuck. The CR123a is bigger than those also known as the 17335....

Use the 801 like you would a 510 manual if it's on a mod - get on the button for a second before starting your drag, take a 4-5 second drag and then come off the button and continue to inhale for another second to cool the atty.

I am going to see if I can get my hands on an adapter for my chuck and try an 801 or a 510 atty. Perhaps I should just get another chuck! LOL

sorry for my ignorance- is protected aimed more towards the charger or the batteries themselves? For example if I have cr123a bats 3v 1000mAh and the charger is protected is that ok? or should the bats be protected also?

The protection comes in the form of a PCB circuit. They have them integrated into batteries and chargers, it prevents the battery from reaching a voltage higher than X value and lower than Y value also known as over-voltage or under-voltage protection.

So, both do, yes. Unprotected batteries can potentially charge higher then their spec, and can also be discharged lower than their spec, which can be dangerous, especially with Lithium Ion batteries.

Here's a little more insight from Wiki regarding protection:

hey are those Nano 3v cr123a chargers protected? Also- RennaissancePuffer- do you have a link where I can get some CR123a- protected recharagebale batteries for a good price? I literally have been looking for hours over the past 3 days looking at batteries and trying to find the best ones for the money- Im looking for RCR123a 3v 900mAh- and thinking about getting the Nano charger- but I can't tell if it is protected

I have heard mixed reviews about the 900mAh RCR123A batteries, so I decided to just go with the 750mAh. Your best deal is likely going to come from dealextreme, but the shipping takes forever.

I did order this on Friday, and they should still offer the free shipping on it if you use "tenergydeals" as the coupon code during checkout. This will get you 6x RCR123A 750mAh batteries plus a charger for $27 USD. They are not protected, but they state that they will not explode of catch fire. I suspect if you overdischarge them they will simply die. Easy enough, once vapor production starts to get weak just pop them in the charger and put in freshly charged batteries.

If you need to have 900mAh, these are protected, it's a little more money and you only get 4 batteries, but you should also be able to get the free shipping with the same code.

RenaissancePuffer:

You seem very knowledgeable I am very close to pulling the trigger on those tenergy 750mAh. I am going to use these bats for the Silver Bullet- Rob over there at altsmoke recommended the second kit you posted. My question is will there be a noticeable difference in performance between the 750mAh and the 900mAh? I am not very smart when it comes to batteries. I have been searching for the past 3 days to get the best batteries for the buck. I think I am going to shell out some more money and get one of the kits you posted above. Also- I have some things picked out at DX but the long shipping scares me- how fast is the shipping for all-battery- fast?

I ordered from Battery Junction and the shipping was very fast, 3 days from Connecticut to Utah.

I don't have both sets to give you a comparison between the two. In theory, the 900mAh should last noticably longer, but keep in mind the two batteries have different chemical properties. LiFePO4 is Lithium iron phosphate. They are said to last longer than standard Lithium Ion rechargable batteries.

The free shipping that I opt'd for was 4 days from California to Minnesota, since it's Fed-Ex Ground. I haven't received the batteries yet, but the shipping chart shows it at 4 days.

Awesome- Thanks for all the info- Battery shopping has been the most grueling shopping ive ever done.

I think I am going to pull the trigger on those Tenergy 750mAh- In theory I wanted to know if those will be similar to the 900mAh ones. Lets say that they both are LiIon (same chemical make-up either LiIon or LiPho) mainly comparing the mAh- so basically the mAh has to do with charging- from your answers- they will have very similar performance just one might last longer (charge) than the other?
