I decided to start a new thread on this so it didn't get buried.

I started a cinnamon and a cocoa extraction today. I used ground cinnamon from the dollar store and Nestle 100% pure cocoa(the kind for baking). I followed the "EXACT" same instructions as to make a coffee extraction.

They are still straining, but I just had to stick my finger in each of them to taste. Wow, they are scrumptious and strong. I have never found a cocoa or chocolate that I could vape, but this may be it. The cocoa is amazing, I tellya.

It seems to be taking a bit longer for them to strain through than the coffee, so I'm going to see how they are in the morning. Both are doing well so far. I'll keep you posted.

I have been straining my cocoa for oh, about, 3 days now! LOL I used VG and didn't thin it. That was a stupid mistake. So periodically as it dries out on top, I go plop some distilled water in the funnel and stir it around. It is taking forevvvvver and I won't make this mistake again. I gotta say though, when I finger wipe that stiring spoon and stick my finger in my mouth, it is SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! I can see this definitely being my go to chocolate flavor. I haven't really been thrilled with any of the choc I've tried, including the much raved about capellas.

I have sugar cookie sleigh ride tea waiting for the funnel to get freed up, and once that is strained, the cinnamon will be my next attempt.

Keep us posted how yours turn out. :)

ETA: Forgot to mention, I used Ghirardelli cocoa.

I thought that cinnamon was very hard on equipment or would the extraction be better than the flavor you can by from a vendor?

The cinnamon you're thinking about is the red hot cinnamon that is an oil type base (cinnamaldehyde) sp? Jewels is using the cinnamon spice, big difference.

I just had some nice success doing a cinnamon extraction!

I used a 1tsp to 10ml pg ratio. This seemed to work pretty well for me. I started with a 3tsp/30ml mixture, and ended up with about 20ml of extract after it ran through a coffee filter. I ran the extract through again, and ended w/ approx. 18ml.

Clove is another spice that I think might work very well via this method.

I assume you used a clean filter for the 2nd strain? I think this may be beneficial for the cinnamon...

Let me say up front, I am a lousy dripper. I couldn't seem to get a good taste dripping, so I sacrificed a carto to test it. My base is 50%pg/50%vg.

Well, the cinnamon extract is very dark. I had to go up to 20% to suit my taste for a nice full bodied bakery cinnamon taste. Even mixed, it's a darkish liquid. I am going to strain it again through a clean coffee filter to be sure there are no particulates in the extract. It is absolutely yummy, just like this. I'd truly give it 5 stars. I don't know if it'll be a "clogger" or not, but it will be a very nice stand alone flavor, and definitely a wonderful complimentary bakery flavor. It may get stronger after steeping, I dunno.

The cocoa is extremely good as an extract(I dipped my finger in), not overly strong, so I really had my doubts how it would taste when mixed. It's not as strong as I'd like. Also, I had to go to 20% to get an adequate amount of flavor. It is much lighter in color. It doesn't taste bad; it's just not that "in your face" kind of flavor. This also may change when it steeps, I dunno.

Also, I added no other flavoring or sweetner to either one. Anyone else trying this?

I did both about a month ago but used a cin stick for the cinnamon. I also filtered both through several layers of paper towels for the strain (took awhile but NO particles, dark but clear). Also, I let my coffee, tea, cocoa and cinnamon steep for a couple of days in the pg before straining (in a sunny window). You get a much stronger extract that way ;)
