Well, the verdict is in:

Love it.

Good vapor and flavor. I'm using it on a tumbled raw aluminum Reo so I can see any juice in the cup. I found that if I draw very lightly on the atty as I'm squonking, and stop when I get a slight gurgle, there is very little or no juice accumulation in the cup. Awesome.

This is exactly what I was looking for, a simple easy way to rig my travel Reo.

Thanks again to all that responded.

I'm not ruling out a drip shield, but I'm hoping someone can answer one more question regarding 306 atomizers: Do I need to also get a 510/510 adapter and XL drip tip? Or can I get along with just the shield and any 510 drip tip?

I never used a drip shield. I really doubt you will need one. Just make sure you don't squonk then set the REO down. Always try to vape it almost dry before putting it down. That will cut back on any juice collecting in the drip well.

The 306 will fit your REO. No adapter needed. But you will need a 306 drip tip.

Here is a pic showing how the 306 tip will slide on the outside of the atty. Not push inside like a 510.

Yep, I put mine together with just the delrin drip tip - without a drip shield. Thanks for the tip on vaping it right after squonking, to reduce leaking - that makes sense.

Heh - you figured out that tip pretty fast. lol

As Karen said - a drip shield doesn't really help here. Look at the placement of the air holes on your atty, above the 510 threads. Look at the atty screwed into the Reo. A drip shield would have to slide below those holes on a 306 atty for it to do anything - and it can't do that in the catch cup on a Reo.

When it comes to drip tips for a 306 I am really sold on these things:

306 Pyrex Glass Drip Tips

They don't look like much, but that air chamber in those is huge compared to a stock plastic 306 drip tip. (They are a bit over 1.5" long!) You collect a lot more vapor in a glass drip tip, and get more flavor out of it in the process.

Those glass tips are way cool. Might have to pick one up.

If you do, TheEcig is an ECF supplier - there is a coupon code for 10% off any order. They some times run sales that give you a deeper discount that that. Shipping is really cheap too.

Only caveat: Well, they are glass. I broke my first one because I dropped my Reo about 20 minutes after I put it on. Couldn't remove it for nothing and it shattered about 48 hours later from the stress. :( But that was enough time to convince me I would never go back to a bitty plastic drip tip again. Went right back and got three more, luckily when there was a 20% off promotion going on.

The Gold Rule seems to be: Twist on, twist off and never force it on more than it's willing to go.
