Cisco spec LR510 1.5 reliability

I've been using these attys on my reo mini for almost 2 years now but it seems recently they are only lasting a couple of days before they stop producing. I've had some last as long as 30 days but more typically they either start to taste burnt or stop producing around 2 weeks. I don't bother trying to clean them as I'm still in the mind set of "I'm not spending $10/day on cigs" although I'd consider an easy method.

What kind of duration are you folks seeing? Has there been a recent quality issue or change in the materials or construction?

I clean my mini every once in a while but have never rebuilt it. Might that be my issue? Airflow seems good and when I put that new atty on I get plumes of vapor so I tend to think it's not my mini.

I use juice from ahlusion exclusively. 50/50 mix at 12mg.

This is not specific to Cisco attys.

I use to clean mine with PGA, soaking overnight then rinsing. Would also do a dry burn.

Remember a few people that used Cisco exclusively. I know they were getting a long life just as you were previously.

Have you contacted Avid about them? I sure would.

Usually the problem is the atty and not your Mini. The fact that you are getting good result from a new atty leads me to think that is true.

Wish I could help, they were all I used for a long time but have not purchased any in over a year since I got my first rba.
Good lord that might be almost two years now ??

Back in the day I always steam cleaned mine with a hand held steamer.

Cisco has great customer service. I've had some of my 357's rebuilt before. (I killed them)



Alot cheaper to have them rebuilt. Anyway. Use their ticket system. Someone usually gets back in a day or two.

Have you scraped the positive contact and noalox'd it? I did that to my Grand today with aMAZing results.
