Seeing how citrus juice (and cinnamon, and many others) cant eat away at the plastic, rubber and/or silicone gaskets, i am examining the use of glass tanks.

however, dont glass/metal tanks also use some type of rubber or silicone gasket? otherwise how do they make a watertight seal?

it has just been brought to my attention that the smoktech screwtank uses metal-on-metal to seal the tank, but i still do see some silicone or rubber type of material on the screw caps. the tank body is a non-leaching plastic, so i can understand that the tube itself should be fine- but im still wondering about the gaskets. do the rubber seals on this tank do anything that might be compromised with citrus juice?

are there any glass/metal tanks out there that dont use silicone or rubber or anyhting else that might get compromised? i couldnt imagine a watertight seal being accomplished without some type of material that might get compromised, but you never know. any help is appreciated.

I have used the ACTV4 stainless steel tanks. They are screw on metal to metal. They have o-rings where the screw on part is. The o-rings seem to do fine with juice, as it's not in constant contact with the o-rings. I also have Phiniac glass tanks. I used to use the delrin end caps which have the same O-ring set up. The Evolution end caps also have O-rings. I've not had any problems with my juice degrading the rings so far. I vape banana, cinamon rolls, cappacino...all the 'no no' juices. I don't know of any tanks that don't have some type of seal like this, as it's what keeps the juice from leaking.

Speaking about the Smoktech Titan, the tube is made of polypropylene, which is safe from the juice leaching of some juices. The only plastic on the entire tank is the mouthpiece tip, which extends into the tank to make a seal onto the atomizer once the metal top is screwed on. The plastic of the mouthpiece appears to be the kind that disposable eating utensils are made of.

I've got six of these Titan tanks now, mainly because they are so easy to fill, don't leak, are inexpensive, and just work. The only thing I don't like about them is frankly they aren't very pretty sitting on an expensive mod. Hopefully the next version will have a polished steel look and not the dull old-metal look.

I'm using some citris flavors in these now, but none of the flavors happen to be on the avoid list here on ECF. The only one on that list that I have is Juicy Vapor's Ecto Plasma, and it's in my Bella-Phiniac hybrid tank.

Essentially, the material that needs to be avoided concerning certain juices is polycarbonate. This is the clear plastic that some carto tanks, clearomizers, and vivi nova's still use. The safer tanks use either polypropylene (always frosted in appearance) or pyrex glass.

I've read of just a couple of reports with cinnamon flavor melting o-rings or delrin end caps, none with other flavors.

someone mentioned that their strawberry lemonaide juice melted their vision clearo drip tip. when i read 'melted' it was shocking. it lead me to investigate about my citrus juice, as im starting to really enjoy tanks. and it is a whammer in terms of citrus blastyness so i figured it could be unruly in a tank, especially after reading the 'melting' comment about the other one.

Interesting. My first experience with polycarbonate cracking and melting was with a Smokeless Image clearomizer with Mrs. T's strawberry lemonade. But with my incident it was just with the polycarb tube, not the plastic mouth tip.

i wouldnt be surprised if the person i read about with the strawberry lemonaide was indeed using Mrs Ts strawberry lemonaide.

im not sure if the newer vision clearos adressed the tube material. but if the newer ones did, that might explain why just the drip tip was affected. and since that member's post, new metal drip tips have been released for the vision clearos. so it looks liek those issues are gettign tackled.

anyway, it seems liek your having luck with the screw tank and citrus, so im gonna give it a whirl. the tanks only $12 so why the heck not.

Just for the record, the clearomizer I was using with the strawberry lemonade flavor was from Smokeless Image. I have no idea if they share the same manufacturer with Vision. I started with SI in my vaping experience, and still use clearos and ce3's from them (with an 510-8008 adaptor for my mods) because of loyalty to the company. They do make quality stuff, unfortunately only all 8008 threaded stuff.

Since then, they've upgraded the materials to be more juice-friendly, and are about to introduce an "exclusive" bottom coil rebuildable clearomizer in the next couple of weeks.

I think you'll like the Titan or Screw tank. Like I said, the only complaint I can give it is its looks. If you do get one, be sure the endcaps are nice and snug; I have noted some greasy feel on the tubes from juice, but when inspecting the tank more closely I noticed I hadn't fully tightened the endcaps. Since then, no more greasy feel.

awesome, Bad. thanks for your tips. ive never tried the SI clearos but they sure do look well made. and i think im pretty sure the screw tank is for me. i plan to get it from got vapes. is that where you got yours? if so, do they give you more than 1 atty head, or just the 1?

oh and i totally agree that chrome end caps would make this tank ultra sharp (and match my mod lol).

Yes, from Got Vapes, and yes, 2 extra atty heads, different resistances also if I'm not mistaken. I haven't changed the ones that came assembled in the tanks, and not looked at the extra heads very closely yet.
