clapton coil n80 or kanthal?

hi want to start building Clapton coils what wire is better ?
I'm looking for a good mix of clouds and flavor. I love my dual 28 g twisted 7 wrap looking for the next best thing. I have a few rda s to play with

Don't think there is a "better" wire.... The difference to me is the target ohm rate and heat range of the build. I can't tell the difference cloud or flavor wise between the 2 wires really.

I use to do kanthal cores and n80 wrap wire. Now I just go all n80. I find I need less wattage to achieve the same result if I go all n80.

I see in your previous post that you like twisted 28 gauge. Try a 26 gauge core wiiith.. 36 gauge wrap wire, 7 wraps. Should give you similar ohmage. That should be a good testing point to see if you like claptons.

N80 is just quite a bit softer so its commonly used for the wrap arounds and then kanthal is used for core because it remains straight. I tend to use both to keep my resistance from getting too high!

Actually, I prefer n80 as core because the outter wrapping only acts as a heat sink. The cores will ramp up first before the wrap wire. And n80 has a lower resistance therefore will have a quicker ramp up time. As to the wrap wire, i prefer kanthal because kanthal doesnt oxidize as quick as n80 does and last a little longer.
