I know a lot of people on this board say cleaning with Alcohol is bad but I thought I would see for myself. I bought a bottle of 91% pure alcohol and let it soak for 30 minutes.. rinsed it out, let it sit for 24 hours and gave it a shot. Works just like it did when it was new. Before the thing would not even produce vapor at all. A lot cheaper than everclear and vodka as well.

Where did you get the 91% pure stuff? Did you buy it in a store? Also, are you talking about isopropyl / rubbing alcohol? I know they make 99% pure isopropyl specifically for cleaning electronics (printed circuit boards) but I have never seen the 99% pure stuff in the store so if the 91% stuff works well then I will give it a shot myself.

    Somewhere between here and there
I cleaned with alcohol before but it did not work that good for me. I soaked a couple in vinegar overnight and it worked pretty well but I had to flush them with hot water afterwards to make sure to get out all of the vinegar. Vinegar is a natural cleaner.

I'm really concerned about the use of isopropyl alcohol for cleaning atomizers. There IS a difference between this and ethyl alcohol (the kind you can drink). I'm pretty sure isopropyl alcohol is much more dangerous/irritating to the respiratory tract than ethyl alcohol.I suggest that anyone considerering using isopropyl alcohol read the MSDS for isopropyl alcohol (one available @ ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL (90 - 100%)) AND one for ethyl alcohol (the ingestible kind) [MSDS at http://www.sciencelab.com/msds.php?msdsId=9924412 ]
AND I'd be really interested in hearing from someone with a stronger science background on this subject!!

I don't clean my attys and I get at least six to eight weeks use with my 901's. No cleaning, no draining, no nothing. Tried cleaning one of my first ones and it died within two weeks so that's when I quit cleaning. I'm satisfied getting 6+ weeks out of them.

Don't drain nor clean my 510's either and still haven't had one die on me. Been using those for about three months but they don't get as much use as my 901's.

Ahh! A voice of reason here.
WTF with all this , Coke, Pepsi, Purified water, boil, sterilize, pamper BS.
It's an 7-8 $ atty. That's one pack of butts that would last me 12 hrs and this little thing will last at best 4 wks and sometimes 4 mths.
What is the obsession with cleaning ?????????
Use it, enjoy, then throw it out and start a new one, Whoo Hoo, so easy, no muss , no fuss.

Now have a nice night and enjoy your vaping

The people that wrote the MSDS for the isopropyl alcohol likely have a stronger science background than any of us. And it's rather clear:

    Inhalation:
Inhalation of vapors irritates the respiratory tract. Exposure to high concentrations has a narcotic effect, producing symptoms of dizziness, drowsiness, headache, staggering, unconsciousness and possibly death.

Someone in a much earlier thread said it leaves a film that isn't easily washed off.

As far as ethyl alcohol goes (everclear and vodka) it is not uncommon for juice suppliers to use everclear and/or distillled or deionized water to cut VG and then add flavoring. IOW, IF you're going to clean, at least do it with something that is for human consumption.

I picked it up at Wal-Mart. I think it was around $1.50 for the bottle. I would like to find a bottle of the 99% pure to try as well. All they had was 70% and 91%.

Thanks. I will try it out. I am mainly concerned about the dried residues from the other 9% of whatever is in there. I will have to look at the bottle. The 99% pure stuff is used in the electronics industy because it cleans electronic surfaces extremely clean with no residue. Well, visible residue anyway.

Also, I have seen that MSDS before and yikes what a reminder! It seems like the greatest danger might be in the handling. The fumes evaporate very rapidly. In fact, they pull the oils right out of your skin right into the air leaving the skin white!! Following the instructions in the MSDS defiantly a good idea.
