anywhere my broomstick takes me
Im sure this question has been asked zillions of times eh?

as ive read many threads as to cleaning atty's..

still im wee bit confused lol

anyways, i know some people clean their atty's in liquor, and i have some on hand, but its not clear, its rum?

any ways, i went ahead and poured some
alcohol in a shot glass, rubbing alcohol that is, and let my atty soak in that for about 1 hour, then ill rinse and dry as best as i can, then prime it..

question is, is this ok to use alcohol ? i should have asked first, but my atty wasnt acting right, no vapor etc, and it was really nasty and dirty..

please reassure me that this cleaning method is ok? put my mind at ease?:(

eta. please excuse my typos eh? ive bifocals on as i found them, but im still dyslexic

I was a long-time alcohol soak guy.. but after taking quite a few attys apart I discovered that the internal adhesive (510's) was being partially dissolved by the alcohol and was causing other problems. I quit using the soak.

I'm now a big fan of the warm/hot water blow-through... followed by the dry-burn.. followed by another rinse and drying. No chemicals (per-se) and the attys have come back to life quite nicely.
