hello all, i have seen some people post about this seemingly randomly around the site, but i was wondering if i could get some opinions all on the same post. i have a couple of 510 attys that feel like they need to be cleaned. they kind of feel gunky when i draw on them. i have heard of some different methods including water, alcohol, vodka. i was wondering if some of you could tell me the best success you have had and hopefully a method that would keep it out of commision for the shortest period of time. also, on a side note, i just had a 510 atty go from completely functional to completely dead. i have had them fry out over time, but never just all of a sudden do nothing. any ideas of how this happened and how to prevent it from happeneing again?

We use 91% alcohol to clean ours. With mine since I use a higher Vg to Pg, they have to soak longer. More or less until the alcohol runs out the battery connector end we know its not clean. I then wipe them down inside and out as much as I can to get the alcohol off of them. I then blow them out into a paper towel and put them on their side near a fan to dry all night.
For our whistle tip carts that we use I take them totally apart (tip and inside tip out,) I then put them in a container with the alcohol and shake it around in a small circle for up to 5 mins. Then I rinse them in water and put them on a wash cloth to dry over night.

On the one atty of yours that fried, I am still learning things so unfortunately I can't answer that question, but hopefully someone can. :)

I take a mouthfull of hat water and blow it through my 510/801 from the mouth end it squirts out the bottom holes. do it a couple of times. Blow out any extra water prime with about 10 drops and take a toke. My attys get gummy if i dont use them for a day or so and the fluid starts to dry out. If I get a tight draw on a new one I poke a small blunt needle up the hole in the bottom and move the inside (mesh, coil, cup, bridge etc) up the tube a little it works for some and not others. Take it easy as you may break it when pushing up go easy and you will be fine.
