So I just got my new joye 510 kit in the mail today. Just tried it out and wasn't too impressed with the tobacco flavored cartridges it came with. I've got another order of eliquid coming from tasty vapor coming in the next couple days.

When that tasty vapor stuff comes, I'm looking to try that out asap. No point in eating hamburger when I've got filet mignon.

Since I'm new to this, how do I clean out the nasty tobacco flavored stuff and switch in the tasty vapor liquid? Is this something I can even do or do I need fresh new and never used cartridges?

cleaning out the carts is really easy: take the "stuffing" out of one of them and rinse it in hot water from the tap. rinse out the empty cart. dry all with a paper towel (rolling the "stuffing" around between your fingers in the paper towel-you want it to retain its semi-cylindrical shape). stuff the "stuffing" back into the cart (I use tweezers). you can fill the cart half way with juiced first and then top off with more if you want. DON'T DO IT HOW I DID the first time: I thought it would be easier to put all the filling from all my carts into a tupperware with nearly boiling water in it and shake the tupperware for a bit. Ended up with one giant cottony-looking mess and had to try to separate it all out. boooo....

Am I cleaning and reusing that filler or am I just dripping and not using that filler?

I always put the filling back in and re-using it. You can just drip directly onto your atty if you want to and smoke that dry, people do that all the time and love it, but I'd get more instructions about doing that first. I'm just describing how to clean out the cart so you can re-fill it with a different juice.:)

You can drip without any filler. Are you using an automatic battery or manual? I was cautioned against dripping with an automatic battery. (Thanks to Richie G)
With a manual battery, I just drip 2-3 drops of juice directly on the atty bridge.
I have tried cart mods here that have also worked for me, My Simple Cart Mod and the Auto Drip Mod have both worked for me.
As to cleaning carts, I just soak them for a bit. I use new polyfill, which I happened to have but can be bought at Walmart for a couple bucks--enough to last many lifetimes.
(I also didn't like the pre-filled carts, tasted like old cherry cigars to me).
