YAY! I did it! My first time this way!
I cleaned 7 cartos using the vodka and ultrasonic cleaner method last week. Today I had 3 tanks that needed new cartos, so I put 3 of the ones I cleaned into the tanks. Of the three, two of them are working like a charm! This is alot better average than I had using hot water. I'm wondering if the third offending carto is one that I had vanilla cappucino in and maybe didn't get it completely clean. Today I'm cleaning the 3 that I pulled and I'm taking extra care to get them clean, by pouring alittle vodka in them and then blowing them out into a papertowel (several times until I don't see any coloration on the papertowel) before putting them in the ultrasonic cleaner. This way, most of the gunk will be out of them to start with. ok...so carto cleaning 101 lessons are pretty complete....I'd give myself a B grade on this...NOW on to carto punching 101! <insert Rockie theme song here>
