Hi,

am new to the e-cig business, and i have a Janty Ego Jets.

Is there a proper way for atomizers cleaning/maintenance ?

one atomizer i have can hardly blow any vapor, and the other smells like a burning thing.
i tried almost all the common-sense things, but nothing worked.

i washed another, and i think i killed it!

any help is mostly appreciated...

The lazy way:

Step 1 - boil some water

Step 2 - put your atomiser in a container and pour the boiled water in with it.

Step 3 - leave for a bit, take the atomiser out, blow the water out of it, give it a while to dry

Step 4 - ???

Step 5 - profit!

You can easily just run it under a hot tap as well.

The way to get them vey clean is to take the metal plate out and take a lighter and burn the wick until it's white again but you'll need some decent tools to get that plate up with. Not reccommended unless it's a last resort.

Once you wash a tank, remember to blow all the water out. They store a lot of water inside, so blow it out then leave it for a while to drain. You can also "dry burn" them and once you cleaned them, put no juice in and carefully turn the atomiser on for a few seconds at a time until it goes red inside. When it stops sizzling there's nothing in there anymore but it's a little risky to do.

Ok, it's not a cleaning issue then unless you've had them for a long time already. The issue now then can only be that it's not wicking the eliquid fast enough.

The tank system is good, if it works. But getting it to work is the hard part. Here's a few pointers to consider trying out.

- Do you use more vg or thick eliquid? It will be harder for the tanks to wick, use thinner liquids if possible (ie greater pg content)

- Make sure the cartridge is on all the way. If it's new it should 'pop' in until it's snug against the atomiser.

- Do not completely fill the cartiridges. Make sure there's a small air gap in there.

- Tanks work on negative pressure: sucking through the cartridge will force some eliquid into the wick.

- Leave your tanks upright. Gravity will pull juice into the atomiser over time. Give them plenty of time to soak juice up this way.

- Make sure there's no plastic flap left on the inside of the cartridge after piercing them as it can restrict eliquid flow.

Ok, those are basic non effort pointers but there's more you can try to do that's going to be a little more difficult or risky...

- Using a very thin needle, poke a small hole against the edge of the wick inside the piercing straw. Less is more; if you pierce too big a hole too deep it'll simply leak every time. If you do this, don't bore a hole too fast; deepen the hole, give it a few minutes and if it's still too dry, deepen the hole again and repeat until it's wicking.

- Instead of the hole method you can use something that will fit in the piercing straw and gently podge the wick down a little. As with the hole method, make sure you don't push it too far too fast. Little by little and test each time so you don't push it much too far into the atomiser. If you push it too far in you'll have to take the plate off the bottom to pull it back up and it's a real pain to do.

- You can also (but this is really not convenient) use a blunt needle and put eliquid into the threaded end so it gets juice into the atomiser this way.

I wouldn't be disheartened, tanks work for some, others it just never seems to. You have options though. I'd try out a cartomiser pack if I were you Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers it's the 'known to work' portable vaping solution, where everything else has wicking or leaking problems that's actually affordable. 2.5ohm boge cartomisers will be a nice warmth, 3ohm will be very cool and much less vapour, 2.0ohm will be hot and a lot of vapour. If you don't get the tanks working with these suggestions then cartomisers are just an option you can use instead with the batteries you have now (provided the cartomisers are 510 version).

Thanx a bunch.... i will try out what u suggested.

i used PG e-liquid, and it worked perfectly.
then i tried out a PG & VG e-liquid mixture. 2 or 3 tanks later, the burnt taste problem arose.

i went back to the same old PG, with a perfectly working tank which i use on my perfectly working LR atomizer, but still i get the burnt flavor.

when i thought about cleaning, it was because i felt that there was a coat building up inside...

btw, it's only 1 month old, as i just started, and trying to figure out the best practice, with the help of people like yourself..

appreciate u taking the time

Oh, they're a month old? It could be in need of a deep cleaning. I assumed they were new lol

You can use bicarbonate of soda and some vinegar to vinegar bomb them. Put some bicarb where the cart goes and pour vinegar through the threaded end as you block the cartridge end so it all comes out of the threaded end. Very strong cleaning method. The bicarb neutralises the vinegar so it's just a matter of rinsing it out again when you're done.

You can use alcohol, though I can't remember what it's called that people here used because I never used it. It's a better solvent than water will be and should evaporate in a day or so. Iso... something alcohol or a strong alcohol.

You can also take up the metal plate on the atomiser but it's hard to do. I don't have any tools to do it with which is annoying for me. If you take it up you can use a lighter and burn the wick clean or rinse it under hot water and get it very clean. It's quite hard taking them apart and putting them back together again because of the wick and needing to have it in the right place in the straw. There's some videos on how to do it on youtube, but I don't have links to good ones to hand I'm afraid. I've also never done this.

Edit: It's isopropyl alcohol. It's not safe to vape but it should evaporate quite quickly in a warm ventilated place. I'd give it at least a day to be sure because it's a tank and maybe rinse it through with water and blow it out before you try it out again.
