I have been advised 3 different methods and would like to know what you wise folks think it the best option

1. soak them in a coke bath for 20 mins - rinse in hot water
2. blow out my mouth into a tissue, clean/wipe with more tissue
3. run them dry on a manual batt for 5/10 seconds and burn them clean

Thanks for your advice

Here's another: About once a week or so, when they start to get gunked up or the old flavor is messing with the new flavor in the cart, I put them in a little bowl of vodka. I also rinse out my PTBs at the same time, and clean the carts.

Carts and PTBs take a couple minutes at most to rinse out. I soak the attys for about an hour and check to see if they are clean. Set them on a paper towel upside down overnight to dry, sometimes takes longer. Be sure to prime the atty with liquid when you first use the clean ones.

Seems to work well for me. But I haven't been at it very long.

Hi Valerie:)

Can I ask what is PTBs? I know thats gonna be something really obvious and Im gonna feel a dumb ... when you tell me:oops: And what exactly do you mean "prime" the atty with liquid - drop some liquid on it?

Most importantly do you then throw the vodka away8-o

Finally why is vodka better than coke?

Thanks for help

SwanVesta;

I'm new on here, but an oldtechno else where.

That number one point of yours '...20 minute coke bath...rinse in hot water...'?

Well, I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and ran across that idea before, I've heard some people say they leave their atomizers in soap water over night. As an oldtechno I'm going to tell you--water and electrical components 'don't' get along at all.

Here's why
1. Shorting the atty out (you could do that with other liquids besides water). However, I'm sure you know that already.--read on--.
2. I don't know what all these atomizers are made up, but is all of it rust proof? Rust and electronics don't get along at all either.
3. And if they don't rust, do they tarnish? (like copper or brass and sometimes solder)? Tarnish and electronics don't get along at all.

My opinion; You can wash it in coka, and then rinse it off with hot water if you want to--at least for a few minutes in the water, but bath it throughly in alcohol by swishing it around and around in it before you take it out to let it dry for several hours...this will break up and remove any water.

That should be just fine.

Finally, as far as drying it out by turning it on...I say no. Let it set out there in front of a fan for several hours, or, without a fan...overnight.

Just my opinion. (I let mine stay in alcohol for a night or two then blow it out with a cordless air compressor--on low pressure.)

bye.

How would you go about getting rid of a flavor that is left in the atty that you just can't stand without cleaning?

I've had my 510 for a couple days now and I switch back and forth between the two flavors I have so far without any kind of cleaning. I just fill my cart (using ptb method) and start vaping away. It tastes a little different at first but once the new flavor works it's way in it is smooth sailing.
I also plan on not cleaning my atty... I don't see the point.

PTB is Pyramid Tea Bag (by Lipton). You tear open the end, empty the tea, roll it up, trim it to fit and stuff it in your cart as a superior replacement for the fuzzy stuff that comes in it from the factory (unless you buy empty ones, which lots of people do because they're just going to stuff them with PTB).

Priming the atty does indeed mean putting a couple drops of liquid on it -- specifically, on the bit that sticks up in the middle (it's a wick that lets the liquid soak down next to the heating element).

I use Everclear (Vodka works if you can't get it in your State). What I like is that it evaporates quickly, so the atty is ready to use right away after a soak (usually 24 hours for my attys). I blow them out, shake like a thermometer with wrist snaps to force out liquid, blow out again.

Put lots of liquid back into the atty (4-5 drops for a 510) and blow down into the mouth piece without activating the battery (to blow the liquid down the bridge into the atty pot). Take 2 hits without inhaling to clear, maybe add another drop or two and they are pumping out vapor after that.

I never use water, I think it takes way too long to get out of the atomizers and get them dry and seems to take forever to get them to perform right after a water/coke cleaning.
