Cleaning My Raijin (CLR it?)

So I'm looking for tips for cleaning my Raijin, specifically cleaning out the threads. I'm getting a wire brush later in the day, but I'm specifically wondering about chemicals. Rubbing alcohol does not seem to work for the deeper threads (contacts and such), though that may simply be because I don't have a wire brush (and I only have one toothbrush which I use to brush my teeth, so... yeah).

The issue I'm having specifically is my button contact, which, despite multiple soakings and cleanings, doesn't turn into the button as cleanly and easily as it use to, and it looks like it's because of rust and gunk build-up. And I'm getting hot button/mod despite a 0.25-ohm build and the fact that my Nemesis doesn't get anywhere near as hot using the same atomizer (Igo W Plus) and build.

Here's what I want to know: what cleaning agent should I use? I've been thinking about getting CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) and soaking the threaded bits in it. Does anyone else have experience with this? Should I dilute it or use it pure? Or should I avoid CLR and use something else?

The Raijin body is made from aluminum. The pins are nickel-plated copper.

I just got new top and bottom pins and replaced my old bottom pin. This changed things immensely. No more hot button, and it pulls like I first got it.

I did a good old-fashioned scrub-down, too. Cleaned every inch, nook, and cranny. I polished it up with Brasso metal polish. The only thing that I don't like is that my top pin isn't floating, and the replacement VapeHead sent me didn't come with the insulator, and I can't take the old pin out of the old insulator, so I'm waiting for a response from the sales department about what to do, there.

And yes, I got a wire brush. Takes seconds to clean out the threads without a problem. For the moment, I'm very happy. :D
